Hi folks, I'm looking to buy a specific watch (Oris BCPD x Cervo Volante) and the best price I've found from an AD so far is in Canada, but I'm in the US. (I'm aware I could find it cheaper on the gray market but that makes a little nervous.) Anyway I'm wondering if anyone has experience importing a watch from Canada and if so how much should I expect to pay in taxes? For what it's worth the watch would be around $1800. I called the store and they didn't really have any idea and googling/searching this forum didn't turn up many results either.

I’ve never had to pay anything when buying from other countries.
Tell the AD to declare it at $795 and it's duty-free.

according to this it’d be zero. I don’t think import taxes come into effect until you bringing in a lot of something. Even when I bought inventory from Europe numerous watches over $1,000 in total, business to business transactions and documented and insured appropriately. They went through customs in a few hours and I got no duty or fee bill.

Thanks to NAFTA, or now the USMCA, there are no duties between the US and Canada. You’re only responsible for local sales taxes.

Good to hear! I don't see any sales tax on checkout though, so does that mean I'll get sent a bill for sales tax later on?

I don’t know - it depends on which shopping cart software they use. Most software - like Shopify - will charge you your local sales tax at the time of purchase.
Ok, thanks for the advice everyone. I decided to order it and I'll let you know how it turns out!
