Seiko SRPE55

Since buying the SLA057 over 6 months ago, it has hardly left my wrist. As a matter of fact, the power reserve has yet to die in that amount of time. That being said, I just picked up this SRPE55 used for $80 and I'm absolutely loving it! These are some shots from the first 48 hours. I had a craving for a "field watch." Something that gave me similar vibes to the Tudor BB36, Tudor Ranger, Rolex Explorer, etc. I wanted something I could throw on an OD green nato and looked more at home in the woods while hiking than my SLA057 (as much as I'm in love with it, it looks downright out of place in the woods sometimes). I fell in love with this as soon as I received it in the mail!

Now that’s what I call a bargain, wear it in good health.

your photograph take it to the next level 🍺. it is also fit the nato perfectly, have you considered srpg or srph?

Thanks! I much prefer the case design of "Dress KX" and the dial design (think something like the Tudor Black Bay 36). Having said that, the SNK809 was my very first watch when I started the hobby!

Interesting that you equate that to a field watch. I have an SRPE53 (same watch, just blue dial) and I love mine too But I don’t love field watches in general. Because it doesn’t have Arabic numerals it feels more like a go anywhere, do anything watch more than a field watch. I dress mine up and wear mine in the office sometimes.

It definitely is a versatile piece. I don't guess they call it the "Dress KX" for no reason. Haha. I think the OD green dial variant is a god example of it having a "field watch" aesthetic. It even comes on the nato from Seiko. Between something like that or my SRPE55, they give me more of a "hiking in the woods" vibe than something like my SLA057 which just looks kind of out of place when I'm hiking. As much as I love the Everbrilliant Steel and Zaratsu polishing, it looks silly as I'm climbing over boulders with my son in the woods. Haha. The SRPE55 looks more subdued and toolish (despite being polished on a lot of the case) AND I don't have worry about bashing it against said boulders in the woods like I do my SLA. Haha.

That watch looks just as sharp in your photos as many watches that come in at 4 digits. I like @GoingTopShelf think of it as a GADA watch. I bought a Christopher Ward Sealander thinking it would be my GADA watch but I just don't like it. Can't even pin point what I don't like but I rarely reach for it. I'm starting to think it's the old logo that says Christopher Ward. Anyway I have a suspicion that one of these would get more wrist time with me.

Such bargain for this great watch. It looks so cool and versatile. Mannn I really need one 😜😜

Yes, a very versatile type of watch, and I'm wearing my SRPE53 today. There is also decent modding support, including crystals, bezels and aftermarket bracelets. It's very easy to dress this watch up or down, a very good GADA piece, which you picked up at an excellent price.

Very handsome.

A fantastic watch. I have had the grey dial since just after they came out. Still in love (older photo).

You literally just convinced me to buy one and put it on a Nato strap. OMG I'm in love with how this looks. I'm also in the 'need' of a field watch and this is definitely my next purchase. Simply stunning.
