I love my Swiss watches and I love my Japanese watches but something about “Made In Germany” strikes home with me. This made we wonder if anyone else out there felt more drawn to a watch based on where and who Manufactured it. Or does where it’s made play no role in your desire for a watch?

I get it. I had an affinity for Russian watches (my family heritage is Russian) but that has passed in recent years.
I don't go into a watch with much thought given to where it's made. That being said, I am drawn to the German watch aesthetics. They make up about half of my mechanical watches. Prost!
Like my collection, I want to own a variety of watches from different countries. So far I have watches from the following countries:
▪︎ Germany
▪︎ Italy
▪︎ Japan
▪︎ US
▪︎ Switzerland
▪︎ France
▪︎ Former Cuban brand
I don't have a Russian watch yet.
For me it's definitely the German aesthetics and attention to detail. 😬
I do enjoy and strive to have a watch from as many countries as possible. So far:
Switzerland
Germany
France
USA
Japan
China
Russia
I'm here to tell you it's the Bauhaus style; and nobody does it better than the Germans.

Spot on. That is an awsome Junghans is love to add that some day.

Having one of each would make for a great collection
I want the strap on the Junghans. I want it, want it, want it!
Oh yeah, I also prefer the Junghans over the Nomos.
But the strap first.

Hahahah the strap is from The Strap tailor. I have a few straps from there. Incredible quality and customer service.
There is no doubt(to me) that I made in Germany 🇩🇪 Implies high-quality. I also collect firearms, and without a doubt It seems the best Quality firearms are of German origin. In addition to that the Watches I’ve seen from there are also a very high-quality. I’m not sure if that’s across-the-board with all German-made products, but I would tend to believe that’s the case from the German made products I own.

Thanks. I'll have a look-see.
I am also finding a new Love for German made watches. Just got my first laco and I’m actually very impressed. I have also always like Sinn Just never pulled the trigger
I’m with you. Distinct aesthetic, meaningful history, and high quality. Brands like Sinn, Nomos, Junghans, and Hanhart are priced very competitively and I’d love to move up to a GO at some point.
I worked for a German company for years, not all things German are well engineered, it's a myth that the nation plays on.
Completely off topic but this brown stap looks just wow 🤩

A Sinn very well might be my next watch. They are awsome
Swiss has never done anything for me at all, but Japanese always hits a chord.
Fair. When I first started collecting all I wanted was Japanese’s watches.

Intresting

Thanks! If your talking about the one on the Max Bill it’s an ostrich strap from the strap tailor.
Absolutely a German watch fan - in fact I own those same two watches, plus a Stowa and Sinn.
I have a Sternglas Ashtet and love it
Never heard of a Sternglas Ashtet. I’ll check on it.
Well, "Made in Germany" is probably the least defined standard for a country of origin, as it's more or less based on case law.
That being said, Germany produces a lot of watches, and there are many small yet established manufacturers with very unique and consistent designs. (I also like that many German brands have a very limited bling factor.)

You have good taste!
The strap on the max bill looks gorgeous😍

Thank you!
Thank you!
What is it?👀
There is definitely a German style and that’s my favourite. So many: Junghans, Hanhart, Damasko, Laco, Nomos, Stowa…
I would rate French watches second, there are many modern ones that I like: Baltic, Serica, Akrone, Yema…
I don’t have the same love, in general (of course there are exceptions) for Swiss, Japanese or Russian designs.
Hey Joe…. If you had to name one thing you really like about the Junghans and one thing you really dislike, What would those be?
I really like the short lugs thin bezel and how the watch is mostly dial. One thing I dislike is the AR on the sapphire. I’ve bought this watch twice now and both times the AR has had defects. I posted about it a few weeks ago. Still love the watch and would highly recommend. The 34mm hand wind is awsome and wears amazing on all wrist size much like a tank.
