Removing AR?

It’s seems like the AR coating on my Sapphire maxbill is getting bubbly and or scuffed up. Thinking about buffing it off but wondering how much it will affect the glare and reflections. Anyone have experience removing AR?

Yes, I removed the AR from Archimede Big Pilot. I had managed to scratch it somehow and seeing that was getting annoying. I used a very fine cutting compound, I think it was Polywatch, and it came off easily. Although I had removed AR, dial was much clearer. Got no regrets doing it

I don't think that's AR, Junghans applies a antiscratch coating on their plexiglass. That's what's coming off. Is it under warranty?

There's various 'how to's' on the interwebs that'll explain how to remove it with more expertise than I have, but it involves a gentle going over with very fine sand-paper followed by a few applications of Polywatch (or toothpaste does the job just as well in a pinch).

You might wanna post details of the journey here, a number of modern watches with acrylic crystals have this coating, including my own Certina DS PH200-m.

Good luck!

Hey Max! This is a sapphire crystal on this one. Would it still have the same coating? Thanks for the feed back.
