Seiko SPB299J1

SPB299J1: I’ve been measuring the accuracy of it’s Seiko’s 6R35 movement. Over a period of 2 days, it has gone faster by 35 seconds. Question: Is this acceptable?

Yes, indeed it is

I got this model 2 days ago, absolutely loving it. The accuracy is as expected and as stated by Seiko

·

I have one that's +10 and +20ish. Pretty normal.

·

Get quartz :D

·

According to declared accuracy it is ok/within specs. If that is acceptable to you that is diff story

·

I have a 6R35 in my Sumo and mine is running about -2 seconds a day so i got really lucky. Nice watch as well, haha

Whoa whoa whoa, no need to be that extreme, ok? 😁

It's quite easy to regulate a 6R movement.

·

@info2nizam how old is that watch? Or how long has it been running? If it is quite new, then probably the best course of action is just to try to regulate it.

·

Not sure how long you've had the watch. Wait a little bit, and if the issue persists have it regulated. And it is within spec, meaning it's not considered a defect.

·

Thats +17 seconds a day and it is within Seiko's stated tolerance. If its a new watch, give it one or two months for the movement to settle and measure the accuracy then and get it regulated if you want it to run at more tighter tolerance.

I have had mine for about 5 months and it ran about +4 seconds out of the box which is very good and has been the same to date. 6R35 movement usually have wide tolerance range and depending on your luck, you may end up with ones that runs much tighter. My Willard has the same movement and runs +16 seconds a day and I have to regulate it someday.

I have a SPB323J King Sumo with the 6R35 and its similar +20 a day. Love the watch, the movement gives me the sh*ts. All my other 4R35s and 6R15s are under 10+ per day and most are +5 and under. I wish seiko would scrap the 6R35 and come out with a new movement. I prefer the Miyota 9015 over the Seiko 6R35

·

I have 2 6R movements runs at +3 and +2 secs/day. They’re both about 2 years old. My monster runs about +20, I think it has a 4R movement though.

Like many have commented, 17s is within Seiko’s stated accuracy, though it seems that’s not acceptable to you.

Sweet watch. Love that dial.
