Which one of these luxury brand watches would you buy?

My friend has a Louis Vuitton watch … it’s not bad in build and I’ve heard Nico loosely acknowledge them, many Girl friends (just friends) raved about the Chanel J12 in the past … seen some Dior Watchs floating around … Seen Hermes around too .. but not aware of how receptive they are outside of Shanghai or China. Would you buy one for yourself? Would you buy one for your significant other? Why? Both female and males versions in play … sorry I’m not vain … just curious

Had the opportunity to try on this Hermes Prototype at the watches and wonders. This watch is not for sale yet, but I absolutely love it.

Would rather wear an iWatch.

Would rather wear an iWatch.

Forgive me. That wasn’t very positive or supportive of me 😏

What I meant to say was these are fashion watches. There are a dozen small micro brands or manufacturers with more heritage and class than any of these…

And if you love watches that’s where you should be looking imho.

I would not buy one myself. But if I had to pick a brand out of these, it would be Hermès because they are the only one that maintained a decent quality in their leather crafts and aren't just hype and markup with no substance. Everything the LVMH group touches turns to sh*t.

You are not wrong … :)

Sorry but to me they are fashion companies and not watch makers. Some may look nice but so do some of their trainers, but that does not make them Jordan 4s. Stick with ‘proper’watch companies. I feel the same about Tag Heuer and their sunglasses, why??? I would rather buy a Cartier - proper watch company with a rich history as well as a leading jewellers.

Unfortunately .. unlike Americas, much of the rest of the world like China have very limited access to microbrands … if any at all … if not for V*N and YouTube, many of the microbands mentioned here, we would have no exposure to as myself was late to the watch game. Don’t even mention Zodiac, Baltic, Islander, etc … thus leading to watch ignorance. From my observation, this has lead to emerging markets only recognizing big brands … global brands thus the boom … give it time and the rest of the world hopefully will catch up:)

I don’t blame you … honesty is appreciated … my initial reaction is the same … but … I have to say that LV as a watch brand is giving me serious second thoughts …

*CARTIER*

Why buy anything else?

They are what the others are hoping to become..

Of those brands…Hermes. The H08 is fantastic

I also disagree with the LV takes. I think they make some good watches and I think in the years to come they’re going to start making even better ones.

As for the “micros”, some of them are great. But a lot of them are honestly just dropshipped and made in China ( no offense). Hilariously, you may not have access to them. But they’re probably made closer to you than to me.

To be honest… what I’ve seen from Hermes over the years haven’t impressed me … I am very surprised with this poll outcome … very very surprised as I had considered LV being superior to these other Luxury Fashion Brands

Hermes for me if I was buying one of those listed. The others just aren't what I want on my wrist.

I voted for Hermes, in fact an Hermes watch was how I proposed marriage to my wife back in 86. However I was reading about a ceramic watch launched by Chanel for ladies that seemed interesting, has a cartoon Coco figure on the dial like a Mickey. A young man who used to work for Chanel Canada as a director is now employed at my usual multi brand ad, I decided to reach out to him for info or an assist. He said that a very limited number would be shipped to Chanel boutiques, if I could source one it would sell for double the next day after purchase.

·

I didn’t know that

E. Hard pass on all

Some “fashion” brands take their watches seriously. Hermes is one. Chanel is another.

Chanel owns part of Tudor’s movement maker Kenissi and uses a proprietary COSC certified Kenissi movement in the J12. Add that to the ceramic case and bracelet with a unique spring loaded clasp, 200m water resistance and their GPHG award and you have a watch that has legitimate enthusiast credentials. My wife loves her J12.

Hermes is legit

Thank you for the info .. now my wife will feel much better

The J12 in ceramic looks fantastic.

The other thing she likes about the J12 is that the ceramic will not scratch. It will look new for decades. Plus, with the butterfly clasp, there is no extra steel clasp that will show desk diving marks. The entire exposed part of the bracelet is ceramic. Here it is on her 5.5” wrist.

I wouldn’t buy any of them, but I’d buy a Hermes strap
