Seiko 5 musical chairs game is finally over.

A couple months ago I got a Seiko SNXS79 with the idea of swapping the dial into a different case (the SNK393 case), which is compatible with the Uncle Seiko Jubilee style bracelet.

That went great, but the SNK393 dial did not fit in the SNXS79 case. So, it sat unused for several weeks. I really didn't want to open up the movement and replace the spacer ring, but I really like the dial. So I bought an SNK369 on sale to swap the 393 dial into. I was pretty sure I wouldn't like the white dial, and figured I'd sell the dial and movement once the swap was complete.

But I really liked the white dial and didn't want to let it sit unused or sell it either! It seemed like there was always going to be a dial I liked without a case to call home.

Then I tried a crazy idea... I've had an SNKL23 this whole time. In a last ditch effort, I decided to see if the SNKL23 movement would fit in the SNXS79 case. It was a long shot, especially since the SNKL23 case is 38mm rather than the 37mm of the others. But to my amazement, the SNKL23 movement fits in the SNXS79 case! And it looks good in there!

So now, the SNXS79 dial is in the SNK393 case.

The SNK393 dial is in the SNKL23 case.

The SNKL23 dial is in the SNXS79 case.

And the SNK369 dial is back in its original case.

And somehow, they're all still ticking!

Yeah, the white dial looks much better in person than in the pictures.

I also have three: a blue SNK807, a gorgeous SNKK87, and SNK375 which I think is the black dial version of Rob's white dial/red stripe watch. What three do you have? Do you know their numbers?

That's just amazing. I don't know why a guy would go to all that trouble, but they look great.

I used to play in a band called Last Ditch Effort.

Loved it man! I have a question, will the SNKL23 dial fit SNK393 case?

I imagine it would since the SNKL23 dial fits in the SNXS79 case, and the SNXS79 dial fits in the SNK393 case. It seems likely to work, but I have not tried it myself.
