Single Watch Travel Case

I’m heading away for a few days, with a watch on the wrist and another in a case, but I don’t have a single-watch case.

What should I buy?

The current likely purchase is the Mirage (as pictured), for £35 from Amazon.

It would depend on the watch, but I have always thought I wouldn’t buy a single watch case — balled up pair of socks is effective and camouflage.

Depends on whether you're wearing it as you travel or not. Cases like the one in the picture aren't convenient if you want to protect your watch while going through airport security. If it's in your bag, anything protective would do, socks do work well! I find the little round zip cases easiest to fling a watch in at security.

True, though I'm not flying anywhere near the USA, so I don't have to worry about the thieving TSA. Second watch will go in hand luggage and will probably be the Casio, the Explorer on the wrist. BTW, do watches go through x-ray machines okay?

That one is fine in my opinion.

Go for it

Are you bringing two watches (one for your wrist, the other in a case)?

The sock idea is fun, but in the event you are not paranoid and would like something a little nicer, it depends on how much you value space and protection. The two options I like:

Watchpod. Costs $15, tough as hell and offers great protection. There are also countless knock offs for less, but we are talking $15, get the real one.

Second, is a pouch with a card to protect the case and bracelet. Can be had for about $10.

Bonus option, go with the most inexpensive and best protection of all three, a shipping coffin. I have tons of these from my AD. They store well, easy to transport, and offer excellent protection. Amazon has them for $8.99.

I think it's fine. IMO the zip case is easiest to use through security. This type. Great Photoshop...

If travel duration is short and I’m just taking one one more watch (other than the one I’ll wear during travel) I use a sock and an old eye glasses case (since I’ve worn corrective eye wear for many years, I’ve got lots of cases.)

But I’ve also had my eye on these. Two and four watch cases. Always had great service from unclestraps.com!

If I was just taking one extra watch, I'd probably just double wrist it for a few hours. Or go with the watchpod.

I like the WatchPod idea but with no cushion lining, doesn’t the watch rattle around a lot?

Good question. Because of how it is molded, it stays pretty snug.

Looks good but over $30 in the UK.

I have a single and a double watch pod and feel they offer good protection (but don't look very fancy)

Sadly more expensive in the UK.

Worth a purchase though, I think.

That's ashame.. if assume they are made in Asia and would be comparably priced on Amazon UK.

Coincidentally, I just used mine on a trip to London (from Chicago) a week or so ago.

My girlfriend got me the 2-watch Mirage in navy for Christmas. Great quality, I use it as much as I can on my trips! Can recommend.

UPDATE:

As the 'WatchPod' (which was recommended on here) is not available in the UK (Amazon US will ship it to the UK for £25 / $32), I looked at the next best thing. The 'Amazon Recommended' case in this same style is the 'Cheopz Travel Watch Case' prised at £16.

I've ordered this and will post a brief review on Monday, when it arrives.

I second the watch pod type cases. They are sturdy and have sufficient cushion. Plus they are not bulky and won’t take up too much space in your hand carry.

I got mine off AliExpress for about US$3 (after shipping and tax).
