Sapphire vs Mineral Crystals

Assuming neither are scratched, can you visually tell the difference between a watch with a sapphire crystal and one with a mineral or “hardlex” crystal? Maybe I am merely confirming what I want to be true, but my sapphire crystal watches seem more solid and appear to have better clarity. What’s your experience? Not considering scratch resistance, can you tell the difference? Comments are welcome!

I feel like I need one of those gizmos the watch reviewers have that tell them what the crystal is made of.

The forehead method should work if they’re at room temperature. I doubt I could tell just by looking.

I heard a joke once.....

What's the difference between a duck?

One quacks the other does!

Honestly I cannot tell by looks alone. I can tell the difference between Hesalite/Acrylic and the rest tho..... 😂.

I misvoted because I didn’t read the post before voting… I can’t visually tell the difference usually.

I honestly can’t visually tell but then again, I’m blind as a bat 😝🤙

Visualy not, for example Orient Kamasu had sapphire crystal and had terrible clarity. Citizen BN0200 have mineral with nice AR and looks much nicer. Just a funny fact: you can feel the difference. If you pick up a watch and put it to you forhead, sapphire is much much colder. ;-)

The difference is I look at the specs before buying and I don't buy it if it has a mineral crystal

I can't tell the difference just by sight.

·

Cannot tell a difference by visuals, only by touch.

But i can clearly see that acrylic crystals are the prettiest :)

Sapphire unless we'll coated in AR tends to dull the colors. If coated it often has a hue of some sort.
