Trying out the rubber strap on the PO today. Do rubber straps cheapen the look of a sport watch? What do you think? Feel free to post your best rubber strap/watch combos.
It depends on the vibe you're going for, tbh. Rubber straps/steel bracelets make a sports watch look as they were intended: sporty. Like a watch that can be worn while you're out with your boys just goofin' around. Or, inversely, throw a leather strap on it and suddenly it looks much more classy. The kinda watch you'd wear out to a nice dinner. It's all about matching the situations you expect to be in throughout the day.
Absolutely not. I prefer rubber on a couple of my sport watches. Sport implies informal, comfort and activity. Rubber is an ideal material for those purposes/functions.
Feels kind of like off road/mud tires on a luxury suv. Is it as fancy and clean looking as the tires that came with it? Probably not. Does it still look great in a slightly different way and have practical benefits for some people? Yep.
I have my moods when I love my rubber straps then I have my moods when I prefer the bracelet. My super ocean heritage especially! I'm always switching that around. That being said, I think that some rubber strap companies are outrageously priced!
I see loads of people posting pictures of their watches on rubber straps, they look amazing and so I bought one but when it’s on my wrist I just don’t like it.
I think I’ve come to the conclusion I’m just a bracelet man.
Don’t get me wrong I love my gshock and it’s rubber strap but putting my dive watch (kamasu, (not an expensive watch)) On a rubber strap I just can’t pull it off 🤷♂️😂😂
I've heard from a lot of people around me that a rubber strap looks like I'm wearing an Apple watch or a Swatch. So I think it does make your watch look cheap in the eyes of muggles.

I think it enhances the look. To my eye bracelets look tacky.

Hope not. I just added a crafter blue to my Black Bay. It was a step up from the old cheap NATO it replaced.

The Omega Aqua Terra and some luxury divers look like they're meant to be worn on a rubber strap. A JLC Master Thin Moon or Reverso not so much.
I think it depends on the strap.
While not luxury watches I think they look decent on rubber:

D. Who cares?
Wear what you like.
In my opinion a steel bracelet definitely looks more expensive than a rubber strap, but so what? It has its place and use.
