What would be your ideal collection?

I’ve just gotten into this hobby with the Seiko 5 GMT and I’m already looking for my next watch 😅. Then I got to thinking about what my ideal collection would be, and here are my thoughts. The purpose of this post is for everyone to post their ideal collection, no matter the price and to then explain what role each watch serves in the collection, why you like it, etc…

I always have trouble with this question but currently I’d go with these:

I’d want a grab and go quartz piece preferably with solar charging and I love the Tag Heuer Aquaracer line and Titanium so first up Tag Heuer Aquaracer Solargraph

I don’t have a grail as I don’t like planning how I’ll build my collection but my favourite chronograph for a while is this Zenith El Primero.

Every collection seems to have a gmt and I love this Longines Spirit.

I came across REC watches at the Stockholm Time event last year and I thought their way of installing pieces of historic vehicles in their watches and I like a small seconds complication and the fact that there’s a piece of a WW2 fighter plane in this.

As someone with both a British and Swedish passports I’d want a watch from each country, and Christopher Ward are my favourite brand not so keen on how they updated this but I really like this Moonphase.

For my Swedish one I’d go with this from Bravur. Another one I met at Stockholm Time and I thought it looked great.

And finally I really like Farer and would like a worldtimer so I would go with this.

A collection is a fluid thing, I am always looking for the next watch. If you ask me for my three watch collection here it is.

I think it's always super interesting to decide how you build an ideal, you could go for Watch specifics eg. Chrono/Diver/Dress... or you could look at when and where you're wearing them Formal/Smart casual/Casual/Holiday etc.

I'd also add a piece of advice from my Husband...you've only got one on at a time, try and make it the best you can, don't get caught filling the collection just to have a full collection!

I'm way, way too far down the rabbit hole to say what it would be. It's more like this is how it turned out at this point.

My ideal collection would include the 3 perfect watches gifted to me by my wife who doesn’t love watches but sadly for her does like me, included in the nondescript paper carton would be every penny dollar that I have ever spent on my hobby over all the decades. That would be a collection that I would like to show off!

This is a tough one. With too many varieties of watches imma have to go full mental monk mode if i’m gonna break down to three. I guess it’s a matter of choice and opinion. Casio for sure be one of them the other two would be Eco drive and a automatic.
