Yes, my son went and chose his first watch, and the winner is the Casio F-91W. He turned on the hourly "beep" and has started synchronizing his watch to the atomic clock without so much as a peep from me.
When I was younger I wanted a Casio too, the C-80, but my parents felt it was too expensive so they got me a cheap knock-off calculator watch instead. Not that I blame my parents, but I really wanted the C-80, and now my son has given me the chance to start his Casio journey his way. ๐
His decision, but I may have influenced it a bit by saying the F-91 is legendary. To be fair I pointed out some Illuminator models first, but he still picked the cruddy backlight on his new watch. ๐

That son of yours has a great head on his shoulders. Great first watch!
Excellent choice! Can't wait for my kid to be old enough.
Not gonna lie, father and son moments tug at my heart strings. Way to go!
Nice one the lad has good taste, ๐
Impressed, great watch and all but synchronising is impressive ! Congrats to the lad.๐
Way to go! Congrats on his journey. Also a good one to throw a NATO strap or a metal bracelet (aliexpress has some for cheap) later on when he wants to change it up a bit. But do save the original "spring bars."

Good to know, thanks!
Cool watch! Just got this one for my son, now i cant say give me a minute without him timing it
Hey Dan Pan,
Your son has good taste. Iโm sure the F91 will serve him well and get him interested in the hobby with an appreciation for watches across the price spectrum.
That kid is going places ๐

Your son is ultra sophisticated. The A158 with the metal bracelet is a great choice!
Yes, the hourly chime rules! I see 24 hour time display in the not-too-distant future.

I'm hoping, but my first concern with getting him the watch is that he gets to these "places" on time! ๐
Love it! My guy started with this and then saved up and bought himself the calculator watch.
A proper first watch! Nice one ๐
Sweet! He knows whatโs up!
I wish I had that wisdom as a child.
OMG, that $75 Casio in 1980 is worth $300 today. No wonder parents thought it was too expensive for a kid. And you can get it now on Amazon for like $20

IKR. I didn't know the value of $75 then. I just wanted it because my classmate had one... so I guess his parents thought it was the right price for their child (he wasn't doing too well in math). lol
