I second that advice! You will probably be inundated with YouTube videos, Instagram pictures, WatchCrunch, etc. and want to go buy all of the watches but take your time.
Similar to you, I also bought a watch to celebrate a new job. Not a promotion, but it was a significant salary milestone. Watches make great mementos of special moments in our lives.
I have seen plenty of those ads. I wanted an unusual, unique watch. When I came across an opportunity to buy it secondhand, I couldn't pass it up! I probably won't wear it a lot but I will enjoy it when I do.

I was curious and wanted to see data, so I started an Excel spreadsheet to track my daily watch wears for 2023.
I wore the Seiko pictured here the most total number of times. However, I got the Monterey also pictured in September and wore it most frequently over the last ~3.5 months. The Concord below had the second most total wears.
