Safe to say 2023 is the year of the gmt?

Has the GMT madness been louder than the integrated braclet screams? Which side are you defending? And which side are you shunning? Is seiko to blame, for putting out a ridiculously affordable GMT? Or is Tissot the one to point the finger at for it’s PRX? Idk

What will be the trend of 2024? The most important thing I think here is more and more of enthusiast’s favorite complications and styles are becoming more accessible whether it’s more affordable options from the industry giants or micro brands taking a swing at Goliath!

I think in 2024 we will start to see some of the mid-patch Microbrands start to sink. The economy is going to start hitting hard and they are the most vulnerable.

Most of my new watches this year have GMT complications. Part is me traveling and the other is tracking time in Genoa, Italy. Not that I haven't remembered the time difference...great excuse for making the purchases.

Yeah, probably Seiko is to blame since NH34’s are good and cheap. I do wish I didn’t buy my SSK003 at retail and instead bought an NH34 micro brand. Though in all fairness Miyota 9075 true traveller is probably an inexpensive contributor, and I’m not sure what the going rate is for Sellita’s SW330 or ETA 2893.

Integrated bracelet??? Was that a thing this year? I didn’t notice.

I like the GMT function on any watch, a little more interesting than simple 3 hander items. A watch that I am keenly anticipating will be a Baume & Mercier Riviera perpetual calendar Moonphase watch which is an integrated bracelet design from the 70s fitted with an affordable perpetual calendar movement. B & M tends to launch watches the community ignores and this one should not be an outlier but I am hoping a return of general interest for more complicated movement timepieces. I would love to see triple calendar Moonphase watches from Omega and Tudor or any number of 2nd and 3rd tier brands that have the once popular watches in their catalogues such as Movado, Eberhard and Eterna.

I’m 2 for 2 on those.

I think 2024 will be the year of Gold.

I agree with you. 2024 is going to be very painful.

Sometimes, almost the same watch from a manufacturer is offered as a 3 hands and a GMT but the GMT has a nicer dial so I think some sales are attributed to better dials than the GMT function.

·

I love them Built 3 this year

I have a Seiko Presage GMT which I wear to work and the one use I have of it right now is to keep track of time of my office abroad to keep up with meetings. Only traveled with it once. GMT is useful complication but also not necessary if you have no use for it often but its cool and we keep buying.

I won't be surprised if Tissot releases a GMT version of the PRX soon. They milked the design enough with the latest digital, so a GMT version will follow up soon since there is already a Powermatic 80 GMT movement available 😂

Bring back retro designs in 2024.

·

Probably the least visually offensive complication, but I've no use for a GMT & don't see the point of a purchase just to be trendy, so I'll give them a miss.

·

I like my watches to do work, the more work, the better. Big fan of GMT's and I'm certain to get the black dial version of this Seiko GMT when available.

·

The GMT is my favorite complication. I have many GMT's and always happy to get one more.

Rolex GMT Master II

Omega Seamaster GMT 50th anniversary

JLC Reverso GMT

Are my favorites.

I think more gold and 2 tone is due for a comeback.

I’m honestly really happy that this is happening for the longest time I’ve been trying to find a GMT watch that I can actually afford that isn’t over $2000. I also like seeing the alpinist return with a new face although I would love to see if they would bring back that green and gold look though . I think that would be a great watch for sure.

I appreciate the GMT but, to me, it is the most useless complication. A moon phase is more desirable to me, and it's pretty useless. For jetsetters, world travelers and passport bros, I'm sure it's quite useful. For me, eh...
