Any alternatives?

Hi all! This Rolex Explorer II is my dream watch, literally my one watch goal I've set myself, but, being the young man I am, I do not have several tens of thousands of pounds to spend yet. So does anyone have any sub 800 alternatives they'd like to suggest? I'm already aware of the Steinhart. But if anyone would like to recommend similar looking watches, I'd be interested to hear

San martin makes a great homage of this watch or if you want something a little more original but similar then go with the seiko 5 gmt ssk023

Seiko 5 Field GMT, Maen 38 GMT (steel bezel), and Nezumi GMT (steel bezel) are ones I think of off the top of my head within the Steinhart price range

Steeldive does really solid homages of the Rolex Expoler GMTs if you are okay with homages; which with Steeldive I think is easier as they have pretty playful branding and not attempting to come off super serious - at least IMO.

Thanks a bunch. I'll check em out

Christopher Ward C63 Sealander GMT, but it's a little more, but great watch.

·

Decent alternative just for aesthetics and function nowhere near the real thing that may scratch someone’s itch

Also available in black

·

Tudor BB Pro or one of the Seiko GMTS

Seestern makes a good one. I have the Steinhart and it is great... But for less than 160 quid, the seastern makes a great daily you will never have to worry about. Adjust-on-the-fly clasp doesn't hurt.

Would you consider quartz?

I'm not particularly picky with movements, id prefer mechanical but I would settle for quartz

·

Here's a couple of quartz. I have the Rotary Henley GMT .

Chinese bargain!

And it at has a lot of history. The 24h dial is something to get used to but it’s surely a great alternative to the Rolex

My biggest regrets. I sold mine in 2008. And the price is beyond my reach. I bought the Tudor BBpro. Good luck👍

·

Christopher Ward have nice watches. Apart from the Bel Canto I think most of the collection maybe in your budget

·

Vostok has some GMT watches. I have two. Both awesome. Here's another that runs in the gmt arena.

My best advice, keep saving.. don’t buy anything else. The reward will be sweeeeeeeter 👍🏼

·

I want one too!

I have the Seestern, it’s very good! The latest version uses the NH34 movement.

I wouldn’t mind Stirling watches if their marketing wasn’t a bunch of CAG dudes hitting buildings. It’s cheesy marketing. Idk, that’s just me, though.

At times I'd agree too, but it's the vibe they wish to go with. Their Instagram does have some interesting torture tests and makes good points at times tho.

They also do unit watches at their price points, which is better than many I'm aware of.

Seem to be decent quality, most of the owners over at Anti-Watch Watch Club also seem to like them.
