Swatch May Day case replacement

Hi everyone! I just bought this Swatch May Day. The movement inside is a ETA 2840, and it’s in good working condition, but the plastic case is heavely damaged. I heard that the movement is pretty similar to a ETA 2824-2 and the Miyota 8200, so i wanted to look for a steel case for those movements, to fit inside the one I have. Is it possible? Does someone know something more about the dimensions of the movements?

Case style looks really close to their newer stuff. Have you considered Frankenstein-ing that movement into a newer rendition?

That’s exactly what I wanted to do, I just need to know if steel cases (or newer ones) for other movements are good for mine

Oh gotcha, I wasn't sure if you wanted a case from Swatch or just any case possible. (Though, the latter would be super tricky) It may be a situation where you just have to by a new one and start cutting 😂. I don't see too much online for a swap, you may have to pioneer this.

I'm not sure about the movement compatibility but I can advise before buying any other case to consider dial dimensions because even if the eta movements may have same dimensions, the dial could be different size.

Sometimes Swatch will repair them or source parts for you. Could be worth a go

Ahahah, I think that's gonna be the case.

Thank you! I will try that too!

Some polywatch action may help clean it up a bit, can't hurt to try it.

Looking at tech specs, the movements are identical in size. Diameter, height, stem location, etc. exactly the same.

So, the big question is dial size. If it’s 27mm then there’s a lot of options.

After I took the shot, I tried and the crystal got better, but unfortunately that's not the problem, cause the case is damaged where the strap was attached.

It should be 27mm, but I'll check. If that's the case, which cases should I look for?

That is really a shame because it is a cool piece.

I know, that’s why I wanna find a case for it
