I am definitely down for some vintage Piaget...I love the references with the stone dials...unfortunately, I didn't move fast enough on those and they have now become "hyped" and are selling for 3X of what they were selling for previously. Sadly I was too hesitant to pull the trigger due to the small diameters and now it's just too late.
I missed this one by a whisker and it still hurts...
Is this like...
Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?
Personally I couldn't give a toss for either the Nautilus or the Royal Oak.
I'm team Chopard and team Girard-Perregaux...
What's your story Meg? Sorry if you've told it already in one of your prior posts.
Let us know.
My story starts with...Rockabilly and Mid-Century Design...
Richard Arbib was a designer for Chrysler before he worked with Hamilton. He was the mastermind behind the space-age mid-century asymmetric designs for all of the Hamilton Electric watches (side note Gilbert Albert was heavily influenced by Arbib's asymmetric designs in the watch homages he created for Patek Philippe). That's the mid-century design part of the story...
Here are some examples...
The most famous design...Hamilton Ventura...
The rarest of the Hamilton Electrics...the Altair...
Another of the cool space-age Hamiltons...the Vega...
Now...back to the Rockabilly part of the story...
Who is the most famous rockabilly artist of all time...hint...
Yes...EP...the King of Rock n' Roll (and Rockabilly)...
Here he is in Blue Hawaii wearing his Hamilton Ventura in 18k white gold...

So with my combined love of rockabilly and mid-century design...I, of course, needed to have a Hamilton Ventura in solid gold like The King. That led to owning most all of the Hamilton Electrics spurred on by the excellent comprehensive book on the subject by Rene Rondeau...
...then I got fed up with the $300 services and having to ship the watches off just to get the battery changed since there are very few experts who can service and change the batteries on these watches.
So, being truly bitten, it was on to Swiss mechanical watches which required significantly less attention than the Hamilton Electrics...
...and the beat goes on...
Here are some more Hamilton Electrics for fun...
