Rolex GMT Master II Pepsi will be discontinued?

I recently started following this account https://www.instagram.com/bigmoewatches/ on Instagram and his content is fantastic. He knows things about Rolex and other luxury brands I've never read or heard.

Today he posted this reel saying that there are rumors about the Rolex GMT Pepsi to be discontinued. Here it's the reel:

Did you know the Rolex Pepsi bezel turns all red under UV Light? Here is another reel :

What are your thoughts?

When it comes to luxury watch brands, I think the term “discontinued” is over-used and in some cases improperly used. For a watch to be discontinued means for it to not longer be in production in any form.

I’d be shocked if Rolex discontinued the Pepsi. Not only would it not make sense, it would be almost insulting to the customer base considering the model’s popularity and desirability.

What I could see them doing though is making some changes. This would constitute a “discontinuation” of the current model, not of the GMT Master II Pepsi itself. What changes could be coming? I have no idea, and won’t speculate. But that would make far more sense than them actually discontinuing the Pepsi.

The bezel is extremely hard to execute. It’s been said that the stainless case and bracelet with the Pepsi bezel will be discontinued because it makes no fiscal sense. The white gold iteration will still continue (the price makes more sense to produce the bezel)

This just makes no sense in my opinion. There are brands like San Martin etc. on AliExpress that can by now produce red and blue ceramic bezels from one piece on a watch costing 300 bucks…

What is Instagram? 🤣

There have been rumors of it being discontinued since 2021. It’s now 2023 and they’re still selling Pepsis.

I agree… this is what I’ve been told. I’ve also been told that since Covid they have had only one lady that oversees this production and it takes “4 years of training” for Rolex to quilfy you for production. This is all hearsay. But this is what I’ve been told by either current or former Rolex employees

That‘s crazy! I have no info on that but if it‘s true that‘s really strange… We‘ll see I guess

Yeah, right. Rolex is going to drop one of its most popular and profitable watches?

Why do they generate these rumors? Why doean't Instagram clamp down on unsubstantiated claims? (rhetorical)

Just another example of why I do not miss my Instagram account. Much more peaceful without one. 😜

Yeah right. They know how to make this colorway and the material sciences of safe reds in ceramics will likely just get better.
