I like Swiss and Japanese mechanical watches. I also like every other watch. Some for their horological mastery, others for some sort of nostalgia or historical association, many for novelty.
There was a line of likely flippers forming behind me-- I am guessing that is the reason for the silliness. The fiasco did get me in to 2 different swatch shops that I would likely not have visited otherwise. I saw that they do have some okay watches that I would consider buying.
My first ever mechanical was this one. I smashed the mineral crystal on the corner of a heavy stainless door handle 15+ years ago. It still runs, but is sitting crystaless in my watchbox. Maybe I will fix this this year.
I did similar with the mission on earth. They would only show what they had in stock by pointing to pictures on an iPad. Then they hide it away in a stapled bag. I wasn't a fan of the watch or the color once I had it in wrist in my hotel room. I sold it on ebay and used my profit toward something else.
:). I actually boxed it up to send back and exchange for the Miyota auto version for an extra 20. That way I have to set the date before I head out to the bing. Haha.

I kinda love these things. I mean, I love the real watches in a different way. But there is something fun about having and wearing some funny homages with random letter names. I just ordered some ridiculous datejust the other day and sifted through all these goofy WWOOR, LGXIGE, etc names. So much fun.
I had one for a day and then sold it for a small profit on ebay. It was just too low quality (cheap/light/plasticy) to maintain my interest. If I would have been allowed to actually see or hold the watch in the store, I probably would not have bothered buying it. I have a Pagani Design homage now instead. That fits my need when I get a feeling like I want to wear something moonwatchlike outside the house that isn't my Strela.
For the novelty factor of the Moonswatch, I have a chinese...homage.. $30 Moonswatch in my box of things I dont wear. It's as "nice" as the "real" one, to me. I won't be wearing it outside the house (or inside the house, for that matter), but it may be fun to look at again in a few years.
