Here's a primer I wrote about one of the most popular watch styles out there - the diving watch. A brief history, the requirements of a diver, some famous models, a quick explanation of the HEV, and how to use that rotating bezel.

If you actually dive, I would say 40mm would be the smallest you would want to go. Both for viewing and bezel use with gloves. People dive with a computer now, so the dive watch is more of backup if one had one on.

Even though it’s ‘obsolete’ technology its probably the most popular category of watches. The usage (and marketing) has been re-purposed to fit into ‘modern’ people’s lives. It’ll always be popular
