The one which got away in 2023

For me, it was the Addiesdive AD2035, also known as the Addiesdive Quartz GMT which looks like a Tudor Black Bay Pro.

There was a lot to like about this watch, especially the price of only £54, but I liked the black Pagani Design PD-1662 more, which I snagged for just under £34. I don't need more than one GMT, and truth be told, I don't really need a GMT at all because I don't go anywhere, so I made my choice.

The deciding factor was that I'd rather have something which looks like a Rolex than something which looks like a Tudor, even though neither of them have the right dimensions to be classed as actual clones no matter how much anyone wants to argue about it.

Anyway, which watch (or watches) did you let go this year? How many Tissot PRXs were decided against? How many Seikos priced themselves out of your comfort zone? Did you go for an Orient instead?

When it came to a choice, which one did you buy and which did you pass on?

I didn't finish my automatic chronograph since the dial I purchased for that movement isn't fitting properly and while making the watch I ran into several hurdles concerning the case and stem... Let's put it this way... F*** that watch... Trying to make a chronograph with parts from different vendors... Not the best idea. So I'm giving up on it. Spent a good 250€ on parts and I could have bought a sweet one for less... Yea, slightly annoyed, but you live and learn.

Also, I orded the black GMT you purchased as well and it never came... So I'm not happy about that either.... 😅

If you can count to 12 you don't need a GMT.

I didn't pass on anything although a Mil Ships is still sitting in my basket and has been for 2 months. Passing is hard.

I’ve currently got this addiesdive sitting alongside others in my Ali express basket, but I never let the fact that I’ve already got one type of this or that get in the way, when I’ve got some spare wonga they will be incoming 😏

Was about to get the hydroconquest this december, but opted not to rush in to the higher price point pieces just yet. I decided that I'll continue with my progression and to first enjoy the watches I love from each price point until I reach my grail.

For me it was this one, the Citizen NB1050. Its a JDM but you can get it at a few dealers in UK/Europe (at a markup) All in if I bought it from Japan around £400 ish, and that at the moment is about my limit. This year I bought 4 watches, my biggest purchase being a Casio Oceanus, so with that in mind this one will have to wait until next year, but there are a few contenders !

I gave my G-Shock to my kid.

I almost bought a Lorier Falcon SIII, a Casio AE-1200, an Alba field watch, a Pagani 1701(Speedy homage), a Pagani 1688 (Aqua Terra homage) & a bronze flieger.

Needing a GMT? Well that depends. Do you travel internationally and need to keep track of several time zones, then yes. Or like me, you have family in different parts of the globe and keep track of their time via the GMT watch.

I have family all over the world. I just add or subtract the time difference by counting 👍

Yes, I did that before I bought a GMT. Cheers 👍🏽

I gave up on The Citizen with paper dial.
