New Laureato Chronograph Ti49 from Girard-Perregaux

Girard-Perregaux just released a new Laureato Chronograph in titanium with a grey dial. Pretty simple, but also pretty awesome. Super lightweight, and highly legible. The price is a bit high, though at $19,400, though these watches always seem to be good buys in the secondary market. I got to see this watch a few weeks back with G-P and made this video with some of my initial thoughts:

The Laureato turns 50 next year, and I imagine we'll see some special editions or a new generation altogether released.

Great looking watch; congratulations! Yes almost $20k is a lot but still, GP is a bargain compared to many other brands. 🥳

Bombastic! ♥

Thank you for sharing Blake. I was wondering why I wasn’t seeing or hearing from you at W&W, this makes sense now. Will follow. Keep up the great work, you’re a tremendous asset to the watch community.

Yeah, same here. I was even searching on the W&W slack page and no Blake Buettner to be found;0 Indeed it makes much sense now

Stunning!

Beautiful

This looks great but why oh why that date at 4.30🤦‍♂️

·

Nice lug to lug length, help offset that 42mm for good wear ability 👍🏽

Where's your ideal date window placement? I did a poll on this a few days ago

IMO in general 6 is best, 3 would be acceptable but all is depending on dial design. The proper question is if it is needed at all and on this watch I would simply remove it, that would be perfection.

You would probably like this layout then

Much better. But still even this one would be best without the date. Generaly chronos are quite difficult to place the date nicely due to sub registers, hence many with 4.30 placement. But IMO they make more damage than good like that, easier to live without a date than wrongly placed. F.i. El Primeros with date at 6 are much better than at 4.30 but best are without

The Laureto is so underrated in general. And you can get them 40% off on the secondary market, which makes them a great deal. I just wouldn't get them new.

·

I think it’s an excellent looking watch. Clearly styled dramatically like Royal Oak chrono but with GP’s own touches here and there.

But available I suspect and half the price? As far as high end chronos this is really up there for me. Thanks for sharing.

·

"The price is a bit high" Ya think? 😉

·

All class there

One of the integrated bracelet watches that I feel gets overlooked in favor of bigger names - unfairly so. Very nice one

What a besuty! 😍
