I bought a watch in mint condition today that’s identical to the first nice timepiece I owned. I found it on eBay and should receive it in a week. It’s a Hamilton Chrono-Matic made between 1980 and 1989. I always loved its clean, classic, timeless look.
My parents purchased mine in 1984 at Dolgins in Kansas City after I became an Eagle Scout. I’ve looked and looked for a watch like it since I began collecting last year.
I regret deciding to trade mine in the early 2000s to the jeweler who told me it wasn’t worth fixing but “graciously agreed to give me a $25 credit in exchange for it.” The digital watch I bought with the credit quickly died, and the jewelry store closed a few years later.
Finding the identical watch has sparked a sense of closure and excitement. The eBay seller said the band is in rough shape, so I’ll have to evaluate that after I receive it and potentially get a new one.
Look for more pics in the coming weeks as I begin enjoying the Hamilton. Happy watching!

Nice looking watch. I approve.
It's different feeling when you again see the watch you used to own and if it's your first then that's the special one. 💐👏
