SOTC 2024

Just wanted to post to preserve this moment in time. Hopefully the urge to buy will stay far away in this new year. Let me offer a quick rundown of my watch collecting journey.

  1. Rolex Explorer 114270. 2007. This was my first big watch purchase to mark a special occasion. It was to be my “one and done” (and it was for many years).

  2. Glashutte Original SeaQ 39.5 in green. This was my first foray into colored dials and high-end divers.

  3. Sinn 105 UTC. I struggled for a long time in choosing my first travel watch. And although no piece is perfect, I really love the pop of the 24 hour hand and the robust build.

  4. Tudor BB58 bronze. I purchased on an impulse to add something rugged, fun, and rustic to the collection.

  5. Omega Constellation (early 90s). This quartz watch is on loan from my father, who wore it daily for many many years. It is a sentimental piece, but surprisingly it offers a fun change-up alternative to more modern watches. It is 33mm, quartz, and no fuss.

Any input would be appreciated. I don’t want to buy much more but I still would like to have a dedicated dress watch (Santos, Reverso, maybe even a subtle Nomos or Junghans) and probably a chrono at some point (not a priority, but I like Zenith revival, the right Speedmaster, Glassbox Carrera, maybe even Hanhartt or other German Chrono??).

You have any favorites you would like to recommend??

First the Tudor BB Heritage Chrono and closely followed by the Omega Seamaster 300 Chrono

Fantastic choices. Three of those are ones I am super keen on (Explorer, bronze BB58 and green Seaq). The other two are very handsome too. Great taste! I don't have any recommended additions. To me that's a perfect collection already!

Great collection! Maybe a Nomos Club Sport in petrol as a versatile dress-up/dress-down watch? Or a Nomos Ludwig as a fully fledged dress piece? Also, your post is a model for SOTC posts in general: a good photo and 1-2 sentences about your history with each watch 👍🏻

Great collection. I inherited that quartz Omega Constellation in the same size, only in silver with a blue dial. Seemed so small at 33mm, but now I gues it’s kinda in. Love it
