White Dial Roman Numerals - Romance

Some how the white dial and Roman numerals has both a gentleman feel but sporty also.

Just simply can’t get enough for the white dials.

Some from the vintage look and some with the modern feels like with the Cartier Ronde. But all of these watches totally get wrist time.

What are your thoughts on White Dial Romans?

White dial for each day

You got it!

Cartier springs to mind. I would love the Tank Louis in gold with the tan strap 😍

·

It’s nice. Classic, but one is enough for me. 😁

Somebody knows why so many watch brands use for 4 the incorrect Roman numeral IIII instead of the correct IV ?

·

I have a Buckley Dial Datejust and a Santos. Never thought about it, but perhaps I am attracted to Roman numerals.

·

I like silver sunburst dial with romans. Like the Hamilton Valiant. Except I think that's too large with 40mm. So still looking for the alternative in 35 - 38 mm.

I love Roman numerals. If I ever get a date just, it will have Roman numerals.

This is because watchmakers believe this creates symmetry in the dial.

Having an equal amount of characters on each side.

There was a feeling that using the start of Jupiter's name on a clock dial, and it being upside down where it fell, would be disrespectful to the deity, so IIII was introduced instead. King Louis XIV of France supposedly preferred IIII over IV, and so he ordered his clockmakers to use the former. (Google, 2023)
