10x 200$ watches or 1x 2000$ watch?

Personally I have more fun with more cheaper watches than just one expensive one, how about you?

3-5x $300-$500 watches, a nice box, a variety of straps for different moods (bracelet, rubber, leather, NATO), and a couple tools to adjust your bracelets and spring bars.

Quality over quantity everytime for me 👍🏻

200$ watches can have a good quality too, what I experienced some more expensive models does not give you a huge improvement other than the name of the watch brand.

My max budget is £500-600. As a watch lover of all sorts of styles I Couldn’t imagine spending more than that (although was recently exposed to the bamford brand and that would tempt me) unless I won the lottery. I think there are are a lot of good looking watches for well under my budget. And knowing myself I get seduced by all sorts. If I’m only spend “small” amounts of money, I don’t deem it wastefull.

I’m 4x $500 personally as I feel there’s a big quality jump between 200-500. There absolutely is another huge jump between 500-2000 as well but at 500 the watches are good enough finishing and movements to satisfy me and I get a variety to choose from

Hey Angelo,

I think somewhere in between is my preference. If I had 2k budget and that was it, I don’t want to blow it on one watch nor do I want 10 watches immediately. I would say somewhere between 2-4 watches at 500-1k would be the sweet spot for me as I believe that watches have diminishing price-quality characteristics.

Going from 200-1k there’s a big uptick in quality (whether finishing or movement or even just strap/bracelet comfort). Going from 1k to 2k, there are still improvements but the differences aren’t as big as the first leg. Past 2k and it’s usually the brand that drives big improvements.

How about two watches, one cheaper and one more expensive?

·

Personally: The single best one I can afford. Or maybe two. Two max. And a beater Timex for when I'm doing manual labor. So ... the single best two + one I can afford!

Just two 😬 nah I need more variety 😅

·

Or...or...hear me out...200 $10 watches!

I thought I was collumn A… but I think I might be collumn B. When I first started collecting, I wanted to build a diverse watch box of various styles and models I liked. But that slowed down pretty quickly and I started saving for my first big watch — haven’t purchased yet, but 99% decided on a blue BB58. In the last 4 months, I went from changing my watch several times a day, to only once a day, to maybe once a week. I suspect I’ll someday have 3-5 sentimental watches and that’s it.

·

Neither. I’d probably get a G-shock 5610, something in the $1000-1500 range, and one or two with the remainder.

·

Whatever price bracket you have as a starting point the trick is to have patience imo. Sooner or later you will test waters of a tier, or two, above. I think the beauty is to have a steak in every step of the ladder. I can appreciate a affordable watch as much as a more expensive for the proper occasion.

·

Let me first state that if you spent $2000 for the watch depicted under B then you spend too much - that looks more like a $2 watch to me (price including shipping from China).

I'm closer to susfur303's territory with lots of $10 watches, but stretching at the higher end to $300.

·

If I enjoy the watch, that’s what matter. Could be $100 or $1,000, if I enjoy it is the main criteria.

·

1 x $1000

5 x $200

Is what I would do

·

Definitely 1 x $2,000 for me. This range starts to open up new degrees of accuracy, finish and comfort.

·

More like one $1600 watch and one $400 watch.

Also, I like French fries

·

1-$1000(ish)

3- $300(ish)

Law of Diminishing returns 😁👍🏻👍🏻

·

A, above 1000 the law of diminishing return take effect.

1 premium over 5 inexpensive but 5 premium over 1 luxury
