Parts: from wherever I can get them. Lots of sellers on platforms like Ebay and AliExpress, and others with their own websites as well. Some decent PVD black cases are out there (and super-cheap), but I'd like to spend more and get a [much] better case, be it from a watch mod shop or from a donor watch (new or used or even broken). Seiko/Seiko-compatible cases are the most common and have the most options for fitting with a variety of crystals, crowns, etc., but I haven't found what I can see as a good 38-41mm DLC or, hopefully, ceramic case in black.
What more would you need, really. That Monta is great and G-shock a class of its own of course. (So much so that you need 2 of em!)
Personally: The single best one I can afford. Or maybe two. Two max. And a beater Timex for when I'm doing manual labor. So ... the single best two + one I can afford!
Alpinist and Speedtimer good choices, just visually, but like @watchalot and @watchguystu are saying there are a lot of possibilities out there.
