My first luxury Swiss time piece.

Hi fellow crunchers.

I finally pulled the trigger on my first luxury swiss time piece. I have a pretty big collection of watches that mostly consist of citizen eco-drive watches and the Seiko Sarb035. But as you all know, it’s only a matter of “time 😉” before the appetite to add a proper piece to your collection grows too large. After months of going back and forth on what I would ultimately choose to be my first luxury piece, I learned a few things along the way. 1. There is no such thing as a perfect watch. Even if it’s your grail watch, I’ve seen enough grail watch unboxing videos to realize that there is always some change, whether it’s to the movement, case, crystal, dial, hands, etc., that you’d like for it to be PERFECT. 2. And this is my own humble opinion. But I feel like every serious collector, at some point wants atleast ONE Swiss made timepiece to be in their collection. Think of it as sort of a validation to be recognized as a serious collector. There’s something about that little ‘Swiss Made’ print under the 6 o’clock that for me, says, this is your proper piece. And 3. Everyone has different tastes. And that’s what I love the most about collecting. I’ve actually grown to enjoy reading posts of fellow crunchers showing off their collections, particularly on pieces I do not care for. There’s a beautiful fascination to read you’re posts on why you love a particular piece. It’s like being shown what I don’t see.

So, my first luxury Swiss time piece is the Omega Speedmaster Racing 40mm ref. 326.30.40.50.01.001 in the black dial with the steel bracelet. It’s not perfect, but damn is it gorgeous. I can’t wait to try different straps and bracelets to bring out different personalities.

I’ll leave you all with this. Just because I got my first “and definitely not my last” Swiss time piece, it does not mean that my Seiko, my Citizens, or even my Nixon watches are going to lose wrist time. After all, those are the first brands that made me fall in love with watches in the first place. To all of my craft beer lovers out there. It’s like when you first start getting into craft beers, you have to start off with Blue Moon and Newcastle before you graduate to Firestone Walker and Rogue beers, but you’ll always go back to that pint of blue moon, because it’s where it all started.

Stay crunchy my friends!

It is just me, or did a subdial hand mysteriously move from one subdial to the other?

That’s what they all say…

They never go back to Bud Light

Love your choice.

Well played ! Especiallysince it’s your first. The 330 caliber is a wonderful movement and the small details on these watches make them interesting.

@WristCounselor I said blue moon or Newcastle bro. Blue moon and new castle is like seiko, citizen, Casio…Bud light is MVMT watches lol

@corsokid I agree! Honestly, professional photos don’t do any of these watches justice. I now understand when people say they look much better in person.

I should have looked at it on my PC. On my smartphone screen the subdial hands were not visible, depending on the angle of the watch.

Oh I see. They’re polished steel so depending on the lighting, they may get lost in photos.

You won’t regret it. It’s so much nicer in person. Which color variant do you have your eye on?

The black one or the grey one with yellow highlights.

The black one or the grey one with yellow highlights.

The black one is a solid choice. The gray with yellow isn’t my cup of tea. If it was all gray I think I would have purchased it over the black one but the splash of yellow is just a little too out there for me. Another serious contender was the blue dial with black sub dials. My recommendation to you is try to see them in person if you can. These watches look so much better in person.
