1WC -- only a matter of time

Only two days in on the 1 Watch Challenge #1wc, and I'm already feeling the urge to change.

I have chosen the Brew Metric Gold because deep down I really want this to become my everyday watch, against all conventional wisdom. I love this watch, from the gold, to the dial, to the chrono feature, and I love how it looks when I take a peek at my wrist. However, I worry that it just isn't all-around enough for a true everyday watch.

For example, while working from home, this thing rocks. Even just out running errands I love it. However, as a dad to two young boys (and all their activities) I worry that my Metric Gold is going to fall flat.

It's going to feel out of place while coaching little league. It's going to feel wrong when I take the kids to swim lessons. It might feel a little more at home for my sons golf lessons, but I don't want to come off as gaudy to anyone.

Around my home and with my family, I love it. Out and about and around others and doing more physical activities, I just can't see a situation where this watch stands the test of time.

In most circumstances, my everyday watch has been my 36mm Traska Summiteer with the Sage Green dial, which I truly love. I want my Metric Gold to have the same feelings to me as my Traska. I know I'm forcing this, but it's the truth of the matter. I know that I justify not wearing my Brew because it isn't your standard or classis GADA watch. I'm hoping that by wearing this everyday that I may be able to capture some of the magic that I have with my Traska.

Only time will tell (pun intended).

And there will be one less competitor...

I don't even bother trying to participate on those challenges. Sounds to me more like a punishment.

·

I haven't seen this watch before - I really like it. For sure there could be times it looks a bit gaudy, but just push through and wear it like a boss 💪

·

I go back and forth on gold being appropriate for day to day wearing but I've largely fallen on the it's okay to wear gold daily if you feel you can rock it. The Brew is also a very tasteful watch (with the very dark dial).

As for the #1wc , save yourself while you still can. You can go back to your watches and be happy!

I wore my Master Geographic for 40 straight days during the last #1wc. I'll want to wear other stuff eventually. But not yet.

With all this trash talk, one might get the impression you're feeling a little nervous. Maybe a little twitchy for a Pepsi Tudor or a very attorney appropriate JLC Master Control?

Ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?

it really does. doesn't it

I tend to agree with you. Brew actually makes an all stainless version, which, for sure, would be a more versatile choice for an everyday-type watch.

thanks, she really is beautiful on wrist. I find myself staring at it often.

Totally agree, I wish there were more options. However, I do think gold is going through a bit of a renaissance.

·

Weirdly, I’m feeling more like an empathetic teammate rather than competitor with the other participants. My feeling is that we’re all in the together and it’s a shared experience that is fun to talk about/ complain about the rules (I’ve already made a spreadsheet to track tasks required on specific days). Stay strong, that’s a sweet Brew!

My wrist is 6.5 inches and I think the Brew wears extremely well. The L2L is a tiny 42mm. Outside of my daily driver watch, the Brew Metric is my most comfortable watch to wear (I'm a bracelet guy). The bracelet tapers a LOT, and this not only gives a cool vintage look, but also makes it very wearable. I think that there's a very good chance it'll look and fit great on you.

Let me know if you decide to get one! And definitely post pictures.

You should put the Traska on again. That is an awesome watch and well worth quitting this stupid #1WC thing. Don't try to force the bond. That will happen naturally or not. And the worst thing is that if you force to stay at the #1WC with that watch, although very nice, you might end up hating it as you you know, deep in your heart, the right thing to do is quit and put the glorious Traska on. I tried the CW Sealander during the past 1WC and ended up selling that watch.

Go green Traska!

(Disclaimer: I'm going to win this 1WC so resistance is futile).

That's why as stunning as the gold and black colorway looks, the standard black dial stainless Metric is the only one I'd consider for me. Also, 38mm Sage Summiteer wearer here!
