Love the Hamilton field watch. Beautiful. That model has a push down crown right? If so that’ll explain the limit to 50 meters. Where the crown enters the case is the biggest vulnerability when it comes to water intrusion in watches. That’s why most, if not all, dive watches have a screw down crown.
Agreed. I have dozens of watches. Quite a few are in the 5 figure range but I have plenty that are below $500. They all hold a special place in my collection. Often I find myself gravitating to the less expensive models. The thing about this hobby is price, in my experience, has little to do with quality. I’m not a watch mechanic so I can’t speak to all the nuances of the different movements. But I like my Doxa Sub200 just as much as my Rolex Submariner. They both work great, reliable, and they both feel like quality made watches. The only thing that makes the Rolex over $10k and the Doxa below $1k is the name on the dial. Just my opinion. I’m not an expert. Just a guy that has expensive and “cheap” watches and see little difference in quality and wearability.
Beautiful watches. Very expensive but amazing time pieces. I tried on a Greubel Forsey for fun at Watches of Switzerland in Las Vegas. They had to shut and lock the doors of the boutique before they took it out of the locked display case. I cannot come close to being able to afford the $450k price tag and they knew it but allowed me to check it out anyways. It might be because I had just purchased a Navy Seals Panerai moments before. Cool post
