Panda watches

So I recently bought a Seiko speedtimer panda. Really liked how it looked in pics and videos. When I got it and tried it on, I just wasn't feeling it. Seems too small maybe? Even cheap looking? What are some opinions any of you have?

They are cheap feeling because their bracelets are crappy and everyone usually changes them out unless they have never felt what a good one is like. Aliexpress watches are cheaper with sapphire and a good bracelet and same movements for less money.

Pictures can be photoshopped and have perfect lighting meant to entice you to buy.

In and of itself, the Speedtimer is a nice watch.

Mine doesn’t feel cheap at all. It’s one of my favorite and most worn watches. And yes, I upgraded the stock bracelet.

For me it was the size on wrist - tried it at the store and somehow didn't feel the way it felt sizewise. Would not say cheap feeling (watch) though all Seiko bracelets are a notch below the watches. Also felt the retail price was a bit too high, so moved on to other watches myself

I got the yellow one. It’s a touch on the small end. I’m happy with the finishing and with the bracelet. I think for the money it’s just fine.

Why don’t people try watches on before they buy them, or at least do some due diligence with the dimensions?

Ehh, I dunno. I love mine; I actually have them in two different colors - panda and blue (I much prefer the blue, tbh). I wear the panda on a black racing strap and the blue on the bracelet. I happen to like the bracelet, other than the clasp only having two micro-adjustment holes. That was easily fixed with a $10 upgrade from Uncle Seiko.

What I quite dislike about it is the date cutout. It ruins the dial symmetry and I can't unsee it, haha. I honeslty would've preferred a ghost date with a clean dial. And of course, the 24 hour subdial is all-but-useless, but at least it helps with the symmetry. Now if we could set that independently, that'd be awesome

Sorry to hear you didn’t connect with yours. I’m going to have to disagree and say for the price it’s a fantastic chronograph, I love mine!

Maybe this wasn’t the watch for you and that’s okay, hopefully you find a chronograph that better fits your wrist.

I always try on a watch before buying. Photos and reviews can be misleading.

I nearly pulled the trigger on the speedtimer until I went down to a dealer. I didn't have to even try it on, seeing it in person made me realise the size of it wasn't for me even though I do own other 39mm watches (but not the greatest fan of the size to be honest). It's also the watch that made me realise that 40 to 41mm is my sweet spot. But then again, I own two lunar pilots 🤣

Had the same feeling with my Alpinist. Sold it soon after. Seiko seems like a good idea for most folks and works for many, but not for me.

I ordered it online. I do study up on size and fit, and the dimensions of it seemed ideal. I have other watches similar in size.

Pandas should almost always be on rally straps imo; the standard bracelet tends to be skimped on by Seiko

You bought the 39mm version? Or even the 41mm felt small?
