About 5 years ago I found a watch that I had been given for my 16th birthday, I hadn't worn a watch for over 10 years but decided to fit a new battery and start wearing it again. After not much time on wrist the clasp stated to fail and now I had got used to wearing a watch again my wrist felt empty without it on. I bought a cheap used Seiko off Ebay and I was hooked. This is the collection so far

1 JDM Casio Oceanus t200

2 Christopher Ward Dartmouth

3 Tribus TRI-04

4 Gshock square

5 Seiko prospex SUN

6 Steeldive SD1979

I still need to add a dress watch and definitely need to get a watch box but I want to keep the collection small.

A nice assortment, indeed. I had a similar reintroduction to watches upon discovering some old ones and getting tools to replace batteries a few years ago. Most of those live in my "nostalgia" watch box. The more recent acquisitions they inspired inhabit my "show" box.

·

I'd love to hear the order of acquisition of your collection. You got some hot ones there.

·

The Ebay seiko isn't pictured it's now a mod project but after that it was the Steeldive, CW Dartmouth, Tribus TRI-04, Gshock, Oceanus and last was the Seiko prospex SUN.

Check out Baltic or Kuoe or Tissot. Fun collection so far! Cheers mate

I like the Hermetique but it's more than I would spend but the hms is a bit more in budget. I've looked at kuoe before they are also nice.

I have the Royal smith and it’s probably my favorite piece right now. The HMS was one I was looking at for a WHILE. I love the design.

Great collection!!!

·

I like that all your photos are wrist shots.

·

Very nice collection. I have a very similar story. I had a watch that was given to me on 07 and I forgot about it in a draw for 10+ years. The only difference is and Apple Watch got me use to putting something on wrist before diving deep into collecting all kinds of watches

Liking what you’ve got there! Really nice! Especially that CW which, as you know, have really caught my attention as brand for a while now..

Anyway, if I could be allowed just a small advice, or better yet a small comment, I’d say that you don’t need a dress watch.

Mind you, I’m not saying don’t go and get one. By all means, please do! If you like them and want one, go for it!

But the way you wrote “I still need to add a dress watch” gave me the impression you might be getting one to have a supposedly more rounded collection - or some other obscure reason like that - and you don’t need to do that at all. Buy what you really like for you!

Of course I could be completely mistaken, in which case I apologise and ask that you disregard my comment, while I walk away I’m shame..

That's mainly as I don't own a watch box yet

You are completely correct, I don't need a dress watch, we don't need any watches to be fair. I should say I would like a dress watch if the correct piece becomes available. My little seiko mod will probably fill this role in all honesty but currently my CW is my dress watch.

I imagine that not many people would have that in common, both great watches but very different. Which t200 colour did you go for?

Congrats! It's a great hobby filled with wonderful people.

It's great because you can enjoy the hobby at almost any economic level. There are great watches under $100, under $1,000 and under $10,000...whatever you can afford to budget for your discretionary spending.

Here is my favorite watchbox...less than $30 on Amazon (look for the coupon and you can get them as low as $20)...quality made, no magnets, nice cushions that won't damage your watches, glass top so you can see your watches, and sufficient size so that your watches won't touch...

I was trying to find a watch box this size with a drawer for straps, bracelets tools etc but I might just use an old watch box for those.

·

Great collection! Been thinking about that Casio. Does it get a lot of wrist time?

The Oceanus is basically on my wrist all the time until I decide if I'm going to wear something different for the day. Then I usually switch to the CW or the Seiko.

Check out this cool hack from Matthew @Jewbaka

I tried and it works really great. The price was definitely right and it looks really nice as well.
