Show Your Perpetual (or ones you want)

Found my dad’s old perpetual calendar Citizen (Calibre 8700). Took a while to recharge the engine, but once it had a full(ish) charge, took the time to properly set it, took the old (trashed) original strap off and put on the broken in Horween strap.

Show me your perpetual calendars (or ones you are considering in the future!!!)

Yup!!! That’s the exact strap he had on it (original) that started to disintegrate when I looked at it ;)

It’s pretty amazing

One of us, one of us!!!!!

It is such a great watch, here is mine. The original strap disintegrated as well but the replacement saffiano works very well on it.

Honestly think solar powered movements make the most sense for a perpetual calendar. Truly set and forget it. Who wants to do the whole "is it a leap year? How do I set the month/weeknumber again?" every time the power reserve has depleted? That said, if someone feels inclined to treat me to a mechanical perpetual calendar, I would gladly accept.

I'm down to one citizen with the perpetual calendar. Also have a few G-Shocks with the same functionality.

Edit: just realized this is my only eco-drive now as well.

Discreet perpetual calendar

So I’m loving all these affordable QP’s. But my dream is have a haute horlogerie mechanical example. I almost purchased a used JLC Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar last month from Analog Shift but they wouldn’t come down enough on price. Oh well, hopefully I’ll find one later this year.

Does this count? Still in my Amazon cart. 🥴

Love it! What's the model number in this bad boy?

For chronographs and perpetual calendars, I only have solar powered citizens.

Could we make the argument that Citizen dominates this market?

I'm a bit biased but I'd say Citizen dominates the analog solar watch market in general, not just chronographs or perpetual calendars. Even the Tag Heuer Solargraph uses essentially a swiss-reassembled Citizen movement (and not even one of the premium eco-drive movement, at that).
