Special thank you to @drcarter13 for sharing his post with this beautiful seiko 5 watch with Arabic numerals, while I'm still new to watch collecting one philosophy I have regarding my own collection is owning watches that reflect my personality and who I am, I've never been diving but love the ocean and sailing so I own a few dive watches, I can't fly a kite but love aviation and space exploration so I have a few pilot chronographs and watches, so this watch is Special as it represents my Lebanese heritage and culture, no doubt I am a proud American first and foremost but the story of my great grandparents coming here with nothing in their pockets in search of and achieving a great life is what it's all about!
On a side note sizing this watch was a tad tricky as I haven't had a bracelet like this but not bad once I figured it out, definitely loving this piece!

Yeah, I think it's pretty natural to want a watch that reflects your roots. 👍
One thing I try to make sure I have is a Swedish and a British watch and right now I’ve got this Swedish watch:
And these British ones.
Both the Epoch and the Christopher Ward were 40th birthday presents so I’m always going to have that covered I just keep looking towards them.

You bet, thanks friend!
Really cool how you were able to find a watch that represents your heritage, It will always be a more meaningful piece that way. Love that it has the old Seiko logo too. That's a bonus.
For me it's Dirty Dozen watches. I have a lot of Canadian family that served in WW1 & 2. My aspirational piece is a Vertex M100 to pay tribute to that, or even find a real dirty dozen watch out there some day.

I forget the name off the top of my head but I know Canada has a few microbrands that make beautiful watches I've had my eye on, let us know what you find!
Nice watch. Love both of my Arabic fonts, the integrated Seiko 5 and an Orient Tristar.

Nice, I will have to check out that orient I've been wanting to add one to my collection for a while
I've actually been toying with the idea of picking up a Makina Andras or a De Guzman with Baybayin indices as a nod to my Filipino heritage.

Great post!! I've actually been thinking of picking up a Makina Andras or a De Guzman DG013 with the Baybayin indices as a nod to my Filipino heritage. Anyone have any experience with either brands?
Congratulations. It is a nice way to express your heritage.
Superb watch! You got me thinking I might need an arabic numeral watch as well at some point
I couldn't be happier it's something you don't see very often and I love it

Looking forward to your WRUW posts! FYI, I purchased my Unimatic because I'm Italian, born and raised. Wanted an Italian made watch for the same reasons you purchased your new Seiko, heritage.
Again, congratulations Tom and do wear it in good health my friend.

Good stuff my friend, one Italian brand I have my eye on is out of order watches, I love the distressed look on them so one day soon, wishing you good health as well
Hey, I have that watch! Well almost. I think I got the bigger version which came on a strap.
And I just got the Sartory Billard, which I've posted a fair bit lately. It certainly reflects my heritage, it even has my name on it. I had to go bespoke. And it reflects my personality; I like watches that are distinctive and have a bit of flair. Well, this has a lot of flair. Although the rest of me is fairly staid and conservative (in demeanor, not politics).
Yeah she passed away when I was 14, I never learned how to make it and there's a Lebanese food festival not too far from me every summer I hope to take my kids to, if you ever find one definitely check it out
Sorry for your loss, may you find Kibbie that brings fond memories.
I will take your advice to heart, thank you.
I shudder to think what a watch that accurately represents my personality and heritage would look like.
Watch collecting is a personal endeavor. Finding personal expression in your collection is a beautiful thing. I hope to reach such a level of satisfaction
I build the ones that suit me.

Mine is also 42, which is big on me. I thought the one on a bracelet was the smaller one. It's not my heritage, but I thought it was cool.
Hey, Cool! When I bought the Seiko with eastern Arabic numerals, I looked for that Orient, but there weren't any available anywhere on the web as near as I could tell.
