Many watches, including Rolex, pay homage to other brands/models, so I would venture to guess most of us have many. As far as modern replicas masquerading as homages, none. Do not fault anyone for owning them, but not for me.
Every pilot watch and flieger is a homage. Most divers take from other divers. Tudor is entire brand set up to homage the brand that set them up. Watch brands have been shameless stealing design cues from each other as long as there have been watch brands.
As long as you can tell one from the other, no harm, no foul.
And some have alterations you always wished for in the original - different size, date/no date, watertightness, sapphire crystal ...
I have a Radiomir homage by Steeldive with 42mm, 300m WR and a california sandwich dial - something Panerai never built but should have. (Got a genuine PAM also.)
Btw Panerai is building nothing but homages too :)
Well I see your point.. good example.. and not to be argumentative... however even if people could find one... And mind you Rolex is my favorite watch brand... I presently own four and have owned as many as 12 in the last 10 years.. I think the cost of a GMT II Pepsi bezel is ridiculously high. I own the Steinhardt and find it is a quality watch and in my opinion should retail for double what it does. And as far as I'm concerned the closest thing to the Rolex out there. But then that's just my humble opinion.😁

No worries. You asked the question. You can appreciate a design and own an homage, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
OTOH, I really like the Tudor Black Bay Pro and the Christopher Ward C63 Sealander. Both of those watches take significant design inspiration from the Rolex Explorer II. I have an appreciation for that style of homage, if that’s what you want to call it.
I prefer fakes but anything is better than the original. If the original came out, you know, this century, I might start to care, but anyone getting uppity about designs older than I am being sacred institutional property can stuff it.
Fyi.. I've had the opportunity to buy a newer Rolex that was all original except for the movement which was an ETA.. cost was $1,500.. I passed. Even though I could have made some money on the original Rolex parts.. I didn't want to encourage the seller.
So few new ideas come to watch designers. Once you have reissued every watch in your brands archive, the only thing to do is homage(rip off) someone's design. It is the way of the watch world and when a homage is released at a fraction of the price of an original, it causes interest.

Not a fan if the only difference is the name on the dial.
They're great!

A missed "Tony the Tiger" moment.
If it's just a one to one copy then I hate it.
But if it's just taking inspiration that's fine. Nothing is 100% original.

Interesting.. why is that?

An example?
I mean I don't like fake Pagani. That sort of thing.
Interesting.. why is that?
There is no original design language in a 100% homage. It’s like buying a print of Van Gogh’s Starry Night at Wal-Mart.
An example?

They're terrific for modding!

Can't stand them.
I don't do fakes
