30 days of WURW what I have learnt

At the start of this I set my self a goal of posting for 30 days in the WRUW. For those of you who have posted continuously, you should be applauded it’s not as easy as it sounds.

With the help of the Squirrel and a continuous stream of emojis Thanks to everyone who commented we have made it to the 30-day milestone. With a small collection its difficult as I didn’t want it just to be a long list of waring this again. I have rotated my watch’s more this month than I have in the last 2 years.

What I have confirmed Is I have a small 3 watch core section of the collection that I normally gravitate to and am happier with watches in the 34mm – 40mm range.

No surprise the core collection is, Midsize SMP, Blackbay 36 & Sealander 39

When I got the SMP I was worried it would be too small as the rest of my collection at the time was 42-44mm and I thought 37mm would look like a child’s watch, but it was a turning point for me the size and fit is just perfect. After adding the Blackbay a gift from my wife every watch I contemplate adding now is held against these two on if I would pick it over …… watch to ware.

The CW Sealander was a 10-year gift from work, I was hoping it would be available in 36mm before I had to order it, but it wasn’t released until a month later. To be honest I am not disappointed, the 39 wears well and I prefer the Word mark over the Logo on the newer version I just think it looks more balanced.

Moving forward the orange CW kingfisher, Orient Flight and Limited-edition Tuna should be moved on or traded for something I will ware more, I keep coming back to the Sinn 556 but picked the Blackbay over it originally as was unsure about the matt dial and the T rex hands but as a tool watch it could work do need to try one on at some point. An Aqua Terra in 36 is a definite contender and if Tudor release a 36mm Ranger it could be game over for the other three.

Until then I’m in no rush and the hunt is on, But the hunt is half the fun.

Thanks for sharing this and your watches are incredible. My experience with WRUW is a little different in that my collection is too big and even my favorites only get worn maybe once a week. On the weekends, I gravitate towards grab and go quartz cause I can’t be bothered to wind and set a watch. The quartz watches also fit my clumsy rough and tumble side on adventure days.

I've already posted most, if not all of the pieces in my modest collection in the WURW category here at WC. So, my tendency is to not repeat myself by reposting even though I do (mostly) continue to rotate thru the herd every couple of weeks.

·

For those of us with smaller collections or who change watchs infrequently, we could have a sub section for watch of the week or for those in the honeymoon period watch of the month

·

I like your style! My top 3 worn watches are BB41, SMP300M 41mm, and CW Trident C60 red bezel (photo in profile)

Nice collection you've got!

Yeah, posting WRUW everyday isn't as easy as it sounds - I tend to favour the same few watches (I'm sure most of us have favourites) so my pics can get a bit monotonous,so for today's wrist check I've posted the pretty display back 🤣

I decided to take part in the WRUW because I am new to WC also social media wore most of the watches that I kept at home, have some more in a safety deposit box stored there when my wife and I decided to renovate our ancient building during the pandemic which was a bad decision and mostly nightmarish. I am thinking that it is time to sell off some of my so called collectable items, a young extended family member has agreed to assist. I do not recall the commentor but some man once wrote that the art of living well involved knowing when to hold on and when to let go. Sounds like advice for a guy who holds on too long.

Posting the backs now that's an idea 🤣🤣🤣

I like that you posted your thoughts about the 30-day effort. I doubt I would be as concise, but I find myself asking lots of questions about what to wear. I’ll admit a smaller collection would be easier to manage but as nothing I have has much resale value I’ll be hanging on to them.

On to 60-days! 😀

Always love hearing other's experiences! I'm here for it!

·

I have many watches and have made a bunch of them. My favorite ones are all under 39mm. Have fun with them.

·

Thanks for sharing, I post for 8 months straight now (last blank was between 26 and 29 of december), and what I discovered is that I now try to choose my watch of the day with what I will post in the WRUW section. It made me wear pieces I would'nt have otherwise, and for this I can say thank you to WC. I made some strap change, some new honeymoon thanks to the will of rotating a little bit in my wristshot.

Bless the WRUW section !

I shamelessly post the same watch for days without remorse. I didnt know anyone even thought of it.

·

I post the same watch for a couple or 3 day straight then switched out for another. It’s all you can do with a smaller collection. I was trying to do the 60 days but I felt very repetitive posting the same watches over and over. So I stopped.

·

I can see 60 days been very repetitive and don't want to boar you all too much, Will carry on for a while and see how it goes 😁

·

It certainly takes a little discipline to get the WRUW post in, particularly for me on weekends when other priorities get in the way, or i'm simply busier than I am during the week at my work desk.

Congrats on hitting 30 days.

Update just seen I have managed 60 days of posting, well I did last week 😂😂 so it obviously gets easier. The little guy had a week off during that time but is now back and hard at it 👍.

Looking at the last 30 days I have pretty much gone back to a small rotation of 3 core watchs with the occasional appearance of one of the others. Can't see this pattern changing anytime soon.
