My Rolex crystal has scrapes and scuffs

Good morning guys. I just got my Rolex datejust #16018 solid 18k returned from rolliworks. They fixed my bracelets and I had a full service done.  They did a great job! However, when I receive my watch…I noticed that the sapphire crystal wasn’t replaced. It still had scrapes and scuff by the 6th hour marker…so I called rolliworks and ask why they didn’t replace it. They said that i had to request it. So now, my dilemma is…should I replace my crystal and send it back? Or should I keep the way it is. The watch is fully functional and everything. What would you guys do?

I'm hard on watches, so I would just ride it out until the next time I needed a service.  That's me though, and I think I have much more tolerance for scratches and such than many on here.

It's a beautiful watch, and the most important thing is that it makes you happy.  So, and you already knew this, the question is can you enjoy it like it is?

Keep it. Replace it at the next service, it’ll probably have a few more scratches by then.

so I just received the watch today. I picked it up from fedex. I’m wearing it now at volkswagen dealership since I’m getting my oil change. So, my answer to your question ..no it doesn’t really bother me at all.  😏

scratches on sapphire? I wear only vintage, and am very carful with with I wear so I'm not familiar with how sapphire behaves long term. I was under the impression is that need something harder than itself to scratch(like diamond) but that it's also much more brittle than glass so it does shatter. Regardless, changing a crystal is easy, especially if it's not a dive watch. In this instant it would mean popping the bezel off and install a new Crystal. It's about as easy as it gets for a watchmaker(besides changing a gasket perhaps) so I would have it done. A fresh crystal makes the watch feel new.

First off , you have a beautiful watch! I say keep it. Next service you can change it. I say this having totally nuked my Explorer recently

oh wow! What happened to your explorer?! It looks great now. Glad that was fixed.

since spending the day with the watch, I’ve decided to have it for the summer and then I’m going to get it serviced after that.

I dropped it being as lame as I am . I was reaching for another watch in my safe . Your watch looks incredible.  Be safe , gold catches a lot of unwanted attention these days

polywatch paste is the easiest and least expensive way to make it look nice but leave a few battle scars to show you wear it a lot.

That’s true…it’s very understated when I wear it. I basically wear a tshirt and a shirt with my gold watches. It’s very under the radar. You know?

I also have a daydate 😏

Tony Soprano had a few scratches on his Datejust crystal. He still got lucky all of the time!

It also only works on plastic crystals, not mineral or sapphire…

"The polyWatch Glass Polish is a high-performance diamond polish for all mineral and sapphire glass watch crystals." from manufactures website

I am OCD, so I'd want it replaced, but that is just me...if they are really light? I'd leave them and as others said: just have it replaced next service.
