Jura Watches - Simply terrible

Probably the worst experience I’ve had in a long while, considering I’ve been saving for a decent watch for years. Unfortunately, I’ve made a mistake to buy it from this “company”. What a waste of money (£2K), time, nerves, wish it never had happened to me, and will never happen to you reading this.

CW Sellors Jura Watches (or whatever it’s called at the time when you’re reading this) seemed legit on Google with good reviews, so I placed an order for a Fortis Flieger. They sent me a wrong product, a watch with a short strap which didn’t fit my slim wrist, prob wouldn’t fit my cat if tried. I couldn’t even fasten the strap, so I put the watch back in the box and returned it asking for a replacement. Weeks later received an email with pictures taken under a microscope saying the product has been damaged (there were signs of the watch being taken from the box, i.e. something resembling a speck of dust), I tried to argue I barely touched it but to no avail. The choice (an ultimatum really) that I was offered, was either they return it to me (at my expense) as it, is or I pay an extra £100 for a normal size strap. Dutifully payed an extra £100 for a watch that I don’t even like that much on the wrist, hate it really, and now will be sending it to the local charity.

Please do not buy a watch online, especially from this rip-off “company”. This is just a bunch of crooks, and I can’t even be bothered to tell you about my relentless phone and email conversations with them, you’d need a lot of propranolol. Just go to your local AD, and talk to real people, not robots.

Damn. Sounds like the ultimate bad experience. thanks for sharing and will put that name on my not to buy list

·

Sounds shady AF. Sorry to hear about your experience.

Joins WC, only post is to blast a watch store many use.

Sorry to hear about your watch strap, but some more details would be good, what was the actual size of the strap vs. your wrist? Was it the right watch and simply the strap was short? Most straps are made to fit between 6.5” to 7.5”, usually 120/80mm. Any one on either side of that knows they likely have to go custom or order extra links in the case of bracelets. I have ordered plenty of watches where the stock strap was too long for my preference. No big deal, order a different strap. In most cases, after market straps are better than OEMs anyway.

Personally, I have always found the folks at Jura good to deal with and they are great about working on price and throwing in swag. When dealing with returns, they take all the risk. If the watch was not defective and now they are stuck selling it used at a discount, I think it is fair to charge a restocking fee if someone changes their mind. On the other hand if they sent you a watch with a short strap (say 110/70 or shorter), it seems the easier solution would have been to document the wrong length and have them send you the right one. That is just me.

Sorry you had to deal with it and I know having anything wrong can sour the watch, but it is a cool watch. Just find a better strap to go with it.

I have bought many watches online via jomashop, eBay, and chrono24 and been fine. There are also a great number of very well known places to go like watch finder, time and tide, ect. You could also always go to the official brand website like the fortis website. I am sorry you had this bad experience but in all due respect cw sellers jura watches sounds like a fake website at worst case senario and at best a Chinese run operation.

I don’t think this is representative of online buying as a whole but more so this one crappy website I have never heard of before. What made you choose them over more well know sites?

·

That is a crappy experience you've had with them, especially at that price. I have bought from them recently. I bought a Seiko Watch Prospex Glacier Save The Ocean Turtle 110th Anniversary Limited Edition at below RRP & the sale went through without a hitch.

·

Slam them on reddit and instagram first. Facebook too and any review site that mentions them. Anyone that searches for them should come across your bad review of them.

Not the case at all, I’ve had many watches from Jura/CW without a single issue. It’s a small-ish UK based company and they deal in official product rather than grey market gear. Respect this buyer has had an issue but there are always two sides to a story….

·

Myself and two other collectors I know have bought multiple watches (about a dozen) from Jura/CW and have had no issues apart from a late delivery of a birthday watch which was a disappointment at the time. No other issues whatsoever. In my experience they are always open to negotiation on the price and an excellent company to deal with. They have a number of stores mainly in the north of England where you can try a watch or pick up an online purchase.

·

Sorry to hear your shitty experience mate.

Here's my rule,, anything in the 500 range ill order on line, anything over and ill get from an AD. Its a bit like gambling ordering on line, if you cant afford to lose it dont gamble

·

My wife bought a watch from there for me before Christmas just gone. No issues, gave a discount, we were happy. They are a legitimate company based in Derbyshire with proper premises. That said, I’ve heard not so good things too, Scottish Watches podcast were following issues customers were having earlier last year, seemed mainly to be watches marked as in stock were not, people paying for next day delivery and not getting there watches for lengthy periods, which isn’t great.

·

Normally online watch sellers state fairly clearly what you can to with the watch upon receipt. My last online purchase of value worth mentioning, from a different company, could be returned only if the watch hadn't been worn. But they made that very clear, and discussed that during a phone call with me.

As @AllTheWatches said: These online companies take a significant risk with returns.

Chargeback, homie

It’s not lost on me… no pictures, no model numbers, just signed up and slated Jura straight out of the gate. However, your friend Viktor has been doing this on multiple sites yesterday - TrustPilot, WatchUSeek (bumping an old post from 2015 with his recent experience), word for word. He’s either very annoyed, or is just a review bomber on a new run.

·

Sorry to hear that my friend, won't ever get my custom.

Interesting. I assumed that would be the case as the write up lends itself to that type of personality. One of two scenarios guaranteed.

  1. Viktor has a large wrist and didn’t realize watch straps are made for 90% percentile.

  2. Buyers remorse.

I lean towards this later and he learned an ugly lesson that not all products can be freely returned without consequences. Story just does add up otherwise.

His WatchUSeek “review” was ~1am UK, his Trustpilot “review” was ~3am, so if he is UK based as his Trustpilot would suggest he ruminated on this a lot, waiting very early in the morning to unleash his crusade when a UK business would be closed. Now, if we were to consider that they may have posted this at a more reasonable hour, then a paid “review bomber” from elsewhere would be a reasonable suggestion. I could be bothered to deeper dive, but our friend Viktor “1 and dones” on watch forums to talk about his Fortis Flieger, so it’s cut and dry for me. Maybe I’ll friend all the UK Viktor (surname redacted)’s on LinkedIn and ask them about watches.

That’s terrible. I’ve seen these guys when I’ve googled some watches. Good to know how they operate. Thanks.

Pinch of salt? A UK (supposedly) based user creates an account at 1am to chat shit about a UK based brand, one and done, as well as doing so on WUS at 1am reviving an unrelated thread from 2015 (yes - 9 years ago), and then on TrustPilot at 3am. Yes - let’s all boycott Jura watches. I’m convinced.

Haha. I didn’t investigate the whole matter. Thankfully there are people like you for a counterpoint.

I bought a watch from them last month. 1st time. They said it was in stock and with next day delivery. Then after purchase it said call for delivery. They didn't have the watch. Not date for delivery. Lied to me online then on the phone too. I got my money back and complained to the manufacturer as Jura is an AD.

NEVER AGAIN.

ps. I went to Beverbrooks 2 days later and they were great, I tried on the watch, got a price match to a legitimate retailer and they were lovely. Bricks and mortar.
