I rarely see anyone with a Kinetic watch. Why? Theyre absolutely cool and tooltastic!
look at this Explorer 2 homage lol!
For those who dont know its a quartz watch that charges its battery with a rotor just like an automatic mechanical watch.

That first one looks like a dashboard, daring design indeed.
Hell yeah, where can I get this…..?

It reminds me of the Alien in the alien movies lol
How do you get photos into the middle of your post (between the text)??? Min photos always appear at the bottom of the post!!!

Ebay, chrono24 and a number of them are being sold new on regular watch store sites.

Thank you fellow cruncher, can you send link if possible? 👍🤝

You have to type a bit - add a photo - type a bit more etc etc On a mobile phone you add a little text, and then add a photo. Then to add more text below the photo you need to click/tap at the bottom of your photo until it allows you to type under it. This usually (for me) shows as an oversize, green cursor that flashes bottom right on the photo. When this appears I can start typing a new paragraph 👇
like so 👍
To add another just repeat 👇
Hope that helps 👍
I recently went down the Kinetic rabbit hole. First was this 2004 Arctura Chronograph 👇
Followed by this little fella (£35) 👇
And, after another £46 blow out, I’m expecting another today. The challenge now will be to keep them maintained 👍

Hows the experience with the charge on these? Is it ok to let them run out?
I think the idea is fun and different but I want to check off a few other boxes before getting into kinetic though.
Whats the draw for you to have more than one kinetic watch?
So it's a spring drive...
No?
The Diesel engine of the watch world . Brilliant but needs to be run all the time every day .
It reminds me of the Alien in the alien movies lol
Yes I can’t unsee the symbiot now :) from Promethius
I see new kinetic Seikos in my local online watch stores?
Probably NOS, New Old Stock.
I have bought plenty of things that were N)S. Many watches sit around unsold for years in retail shops. So seeing an old model that is new but dropped from the current line up is not uncommon. It is one of the ways that Overstock got goiung. selling products that were new but a few years old. THey have now pretty much abandoned that model.
PS: Needed to edit this to get the proper term which is NOS. Sorry about that.

Youre probably right. I cant find any kinetic watches listed on Seikos site. I just found so many different kinetic watches locally I assumed they were still being made.
No?
How so? What's the difference?

A spring drive is a mechanical watch with a rotor that charges a main spring and uses the quartz crystal for time keeping. A kinetic watch has a quartz movement that uses a rotor to charge a button cell battery.

Oh wow! I had no idea. Thank you! Basically both are hybrids one like a prius while the other like a Chevy wolt! 😂 😂

Yeah something like that 😄 So a Kinetic watch will tick like any other quartz while the Spring drive have that famous smooth sweeping seconds hand.

Hmmm...I always thought (not that I thought about it a whole lot) that the quartz ticking actually came from the quartz crystal which was used for timekeeping. Which happens to be present in both of these

Im unfortunately not knowledgeable enough to tell you how it works but I know there are also smooth sweeping regular quartz watches.
