SOTC... Sort of

Lately, I've been thinking about downsizing the collection to about 10-12 watches. In doing that, I'm trying to organize my watches into keepers, possible keepers, and watches to move on.

I've mentally moved my Star Wars novelties into a separate sub-collection, so here are my 15 functioning watches that aren't toys.

As of right now, the #top5 watches I get the most joy out of wearing are (L-R):

  • The Nautis "Aquaman", so named due to its color way matching DC's Aquaman from the comics. 500M WR with a Chrono, the bezel is a delight to turn and it has a Miyota quartz so it's always ready (recent battery change notwithstanding). Just fun to wear

  • The Sugess Pilot Chrono. It's best feature is something I mostly never see, the movement. The display caseback shows the ST1901 movement in all its glory. It's cool to start the chronograph when the seconds hand is at 0 and watch it and the chronograph seconds hand move in perfect relation to each other. It's also hand wind, so winding each time I wear it is fun.

  • The Forsinning "Tattoo", so named because it looks like the case & bracelet have been tattooed. The cheapest (aka least expensive) watch of the #top5, the skeletonized dial shows a working balance wheel on the dial side(!), a day/night indicator and a rotating bezel whose only function is fidget spinner makes the watch fun to wear.

  • The Glycine Airman; currently my only Swiss watch. It was the first mechanical watch I bought for myself. The story of me buying it was kind of exciting... For me. Plus, it's a GMT.

  • Finally we come to my absolute favorite watch; the Seiko SRPH77K1 Save The Ocean Tuna; which is quite a mouthful, so I named it Mr. Popper. The dial is just a thing of beauty. In the right light, I feel like I'm really looking at the surface of the ocean.

Of my pictured collection, would you change any in the top 5?

What are your top 5 watches?

What a collection. My Top 5 from your collection in no particular order are the:

White Timex - reminds me of the Seiko Cocktail time

Timex Expedition - classy

Aquaman - Jason Momoa makes him cool

Sugess - for all the reasons you said

Airman - that’s all the business

I debated between the White Timex & the Forsinning. I do love the dial pattern on it. It's just not quite as fun as the Tattoo.

The Expedition annoys me because the seconds hand misses every marker, lol. It's part of why I want a white dial titanium field watch.

I say replace the Nautis and Forsinning with the Timex "Cocktail" and the Armitron. You've got the Seiko as a fancy diver, and you don't have a simple dress/daily up in there nor a beater.

Fair points.

Nice collection. I don't know much about downsizing. For me I love watches and don't want to set limits on how many I own.

Same, but me downsizing is more about getting a few better pieces over some that I just don't love anymore.

The Timex Expedition, Citizen Darth Vader & the Pro Diver can go and I can get a titanium white-dialed field watch

Yes that does sound like a reasonable proposal. 😎

Top center Timex is a Metropolitan? I would keep that one instead of the Forsinning. But then again, I’m a dress watch guy.

Yes, it is a Metropolitan. I'm not much of a dress watch guy, but I can see why that would appeal to you

Agree with your top 5

Well my friend collecting is very easy and down sizing is very hard. I been kind of down sizing but of course I always end up replacing with something even better. This itch is hard. wish you well you better man than me.
