Let’s play: “I don’t get it”

Ok, name and/or post a pic of a watch that lots of enthusiasts seem to love, but you just don’t get the hype. I’ll start: The Tudor Pelagos. I have nothing against the specs or quality. My personal issue is with the design. To me it looks like a child designed it with a box of crayons. Many love it, I just don’t get it.

Bulova Classic Two-Tone Chronograph Watch with Blue Dial Model: 98C123. A female friend gifted me this watch. I don't know why the hell she thought I'd like it. Dumped it like a sack of potatoes when I got home LOL 😂🤣😆

A smaller case and a darker shade of blue would make me “get it” 😂

To answer your question though, anything that does not have lume.

Also Bauhaus anything. 😂.

I love mines, gets the most wrist time atm. It goes under the radar, unless you are an enthisiast. feels and wears great.. and its a great tool watch as well.

·

Anything that costs 500€ or more and insists on being an all brushed tool watch.

The Tudor Pelagos is a great watch. But really...what tooling are we really doing with it LOL 😂

Yeah that FDX is straight TRASH 🤮 🤣

Roll on the hate but for me it’s the PRX. Just don’t see the hype.

I'm with you on that one

As I have stated before, any watch with a round dial where the hours and minutes are displayed on a small, off-centre subdial to make space for some complication. Prime example:

Image

The same goes for Armin Stroms and Glashütte Original PanoSomethings. I admire them, but even if I won the lottery I'd never wear them.

I agree on the blue-dial Pelagos, and I say that as someone who has the black-dial version on their short list. The white lume blocks with white surrounds on the blue face makes the Pelagos look like a G-Shock. There certainly isn’t anything wrong with G-Shocks, but they don’t have mid 5-figure sticker prices!

·

Couldn’t agree more. One day you will be a man, and buy a man’s watch is what springs to mind when I see this. Totally unjustified, but what the heck.

·

Where to start! Agree with a few of the above -

PRX - nasty feeling bracelet and plastic escapement

Bel Canto and other mini dialed monstrosities (too non-functional, too jewellery like)

Any Black Bay/Sub look alike (hate round indices)

Anything integrated GG style.

Pink dials (very feminine colour for me as my Mum was known locally as the "Pink Lady", Bless her)

Clomage's

I could go on..🤣

Anything from Ali express.

Those are atrocious… I hope she doesn’t expect this to all of a sudden be your favorite watch lol

I want to be clear that I’m not trying to personally attack the owners, but I just don’t like “Homage” watches (clone, knock off, copy) whatever you want to call it.

I can understand why, but I also can’t at the same time. IMO it just seems a little surface level.

Nothing on the owners though, I can understand why they want what they want.

Agreed. IMHO I think the best time to buy a homage is an affordable way to test if you might like a more expensive version. I have a few and I’m glad I bought them. I don’t wear them, but they saved me a TON of money and in one case helped me to know I wanted the real thing (Explorer)

Pretty much anything Xeric.

My interests in music, literature and other areas like science span genres.

Same with watches. I can understand what makes almost anyone wear a watch and make it rock.😎

Xeric makes me think of the game "Mousetrap"🤔 They look rickety to me.😉
