Monday Blues

Didn’t think I would get this grail for a long time. I remember this watch selling for $50k during the craze. With the big dip in the market, I had the opportunity to trade a couple of pieces plus some cash to achieve the grail much earlier than expected.

I’ve had this watch for about 3 months.

The weight of gold doesn’t bother me, so I wear this watch the most. It passes off as steel, which allows me to daily it. To call the watch stealth is laughable. It’s Rolex’ arguably most iconic design with a colored bezel and polished links. BUT what it does allow me to do is wear a watch that could pass as a steel Rolex rather than a gold one.

Great pick up. Certainly stealthy in Rolex terms. I'm not a Sub fan but this could change my mind.

I recently had to give a deposition and one of my appointed counsels was wearing this watch (the other a Tank Francaise). It was during prep that I realized I probably chose the wrong profession and that I was in good hands.

Haha the irony is that I’m an attorney as well but I’m corporate. A good investment paid for this watch not my salary 😂.

I’ve seen this watch out in the wild 3 times. One was my friend who got it from the AD, one was at some fish restaurant in Newport, RI, and in Dubai.

I couldn’t wear a standard Sub Date. I used to own an 114060 but I sold it because of the fat lugs.

I've had my eye on this watch for some time, and now a friend is thinking of trading his in for a Grönefeld. I'm tempted to buy it off him. The fact that they're available for significantly less than retail makes the prospect even more appealing.

Could be the brother to your white gold GMT. I wouldn’t have bought it if it hadn’t tanked so much but it was just too much of a deal and it has been my grail since 2020.

Great collection - I’m a huge fan of Oysterflex Daytona you have. I’m so tempted to put my cookie on a rubber B to create that look. I have a celebration OP and Ingy on a bracelet so it’s a lot of the same look.

Too funny. At first glance I thought he was wearing a Batman, then he reached across the table and I almost said 'Dammmm' outloud. This is the only one of these I've seen in the wild. If you look chances are you can spot a Sub every day, and I see the two tone and fully yellow gold on a fairly regular basis as well but this one is a rare bird. Such a great choice.

I love it man! One of my absolute grails as well…but I’m way out of reach…

I feel the same way about a daily that is luxurious but somehow still flies under the radar. I’m happy to see someone who enjoys it as much as I would. Enjoy!!

As fellow learned friend, we had similar 'grail' standards! My 'grail' was the YG haha 🍻
