DO YOU LIKE IWC FOR THE DESIGN OR THE TECHNICAL ?

Designed for the German Luftwaffe during World War II, the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch featured an oversized crown and a simple, readable dial, embodying the essence of a pilot's needs. Its evolution from a practical military tool to a beloved icon among watch enthusiasts highlights the blend of functionality and design that characterizes the best of aviation watches.

I like their disign, if I’d be a pilot they would be my first choice!

·

The design. For technical I look in the direction of VC; especially after the recent Watches & Wonders.

·

If you like Pilot watches is one of the top brands you wish to own.

I still think Hanhart and Longines have a better catalog in my opinion.

·

Neither. I just don't like IWC watches.

·

Design.

·

Design, love their numeral fonts and symmtry, also the thin hands in porteguiesers

·

design, finishing....and they are masculin cool as f*ck

·

Just be careful of those lunchtime conversations with co-workers. Enthusing about having an interest in stuff originally designed for the Nazis is usually a bit of a slippery slope.

·

Tech, then functionality.

·

The new eternal calendar is out of this world. And I really like their designs. But generally their watches (from 2000 onwards) are too large. I know, I know, I’m into smaller watches. I like a flieger of 39mm. And the smallest is now 40mm. So I vote ‘the technical’.

·

Nope. Don’t like their watches

·

Design. Technically there are others in the same prioce range with superior technology and rate results. 😀

·

As for me I adore their disign)

·

Design definitely especially their pilot watches.

·

Pilot designs are not not their own designs and are available from a number of other brands. Perhaps the oversized onion crown is not common but that’s not theirs either.

On technical and finishing, there is absolutely nothing to justify the outrageous prices they ask. They were even outrageous for the ETA models before the updates and outrageous price hikes.

The best part of an IWC is the clasp.

·

IWC was my first true love when it came to watch design. Not just in their pilots but also the entire Portugieser collection. The designs were sound and balanced in my opinion and it's what inspired me to design the very first Jack Mason watch.

The clasp is brilliant - perhaps the best out there at the moment?

·

With the exception of their Perpetual Calendars, for me the IWCs are great workhorses...

They aren’t the only ones using that same clasp from the same supplier. I wish I could experience it for myself but my wife will not let me size her GO SeaQ bracelet to my wrist.

·

I prefer STOWA.

·

Design 🔥🔥

·

This is a tough question. I don't care for their pilots watches that much...except for ceramics. I recognize their movements and technical details are solid (if not outstanding) though.

Conversely, the Portugieser is both beautiful and a technical beast. If I had the money, I would wear that and make it its own bed to sleep next to me at night.

Oh that’s very cool - I have the quartz version of your Jack Mason in my watchbox alongside my IWCs.

I originally purchased it in a time of my life where I was lusting after an IWC but thought I’d never be able to afford one. I still have it and it’s been great as an actual tool watch with plenty of scratches and dings to prove it. 🍻
