Zenith El Primero ! YES OR NO ?

Zenith El Primero

In 1969, Zenith unveiled the El Primero, the world's first integrated automatic chronograph movement, achieving a feat many thought was near impossible. Not only was it the first of its kind, but with its high beat rate of 36,000 vibrations per hour, it could measure time to the nearest tenth of a second—a precision that set new standards. Despite the quartz crisis threatening mechanical watchmaking, the El Primero's excellence secured its survival, later finding its way into watches of other prestigious brands, including Rolex.

I’d take it over a Daytona. I prefer the late 1960s vibe it exudes.

·

Now that’s cool!

·

Had one… it’s a very cool watch!!

·

Most certainly.

·

Yes yes yes!

·

It's a terrific and historically significant movement and the story of how Charles Vermot saved the machining equipment from being destroyed by the myopic management at the time of the quartz crisis is like a biblical story for us watch nerds. Definitely an underappreciated marque, too!

Always yes for Zenith chronographs 🥂

·

Love those subdials

·

I'm really sort of neutral. Sure I would live to have one in my collection but....

·

They're awesome watches

·

Absolutely a yes! Beautiful piece! Love the color combos and how it sets it apart from the rest!

·

I bought the blue dial steel bezel model, my wife wears my 90s El Primero white dial Daytona wants to trade because blue is attractive. No deal, but the watches are similar.

·

Love the story, love the wat h

·

Love zenith!!

·

It's a 'hell yeah'! Great movement which is only outdone by the stories behind it.

·

Beautiful, maybe a tiny tiny bit big for your wrist maybe but that's me being very idealist. You can still pull it off .
