So much truth in this. You'll see it in a lot of posts even here on WC. Someone will mention a topic about anything & follow it up with, "Except for Casio/ G-shock" because they already know at least one of us will bring it up. They may not be everyone's cup of tea but there's no denying they do great things.
Casios are amazing watches, but not really watchmaker-friendly. My watchmaker has worked on several over the years and I have worked on one recently. Lovely watches, but module replacements are unfortunately far more economical than service work.
I still love them though, although most aren't my style.
(Automatic winding watches are mechanical but yeah)
Anti-quartz snobbery is the dumbest nonsense in this community. โI wouldnโt pay x for a quartz watchโ but will pay that same bc itโs a Swiss-rated chronometer that is vastly less accurate than the GS they dogged on. Like, get real.
Watch enthusiasts should be banned from saying โbut itโs quartzโ.

On Reddit i see โHey i have a job testing jackhammers, would would be the toughest โautomatic watchโ?โ Itโs like that bell curve meme.
And the answers to โthe toughest mechanical watch?โ are all highly dependent on what the person means, because you donโt know if the asker is a lumberjack or a swimmer. But when it comes to shock, unless you spend RM money, itโs all basically the same.
Must feel really great having the courage to open the caseback... Especially the automatic. ๐
I've repaired quite a few watches at this point, so I'm quite familiar with procedures. One of the movement retaining clamp screws had backed out and fouled the rotor. Luckily nothing was damaged.

Yep, casio fans are more unified and civilized no matter which lineup they came from, as long it is a casio.
Fanatics for life ๐
Did I pick correctly? Weโre supposed to pick one right? ๐คช

100%... I'd go as far as to say anyone who hates a casio doesn't know watches or even wore a watch. a league of its own.
