My latest acquisition

Yes, it’s a quartz but I’m loving it so far. What do you guys think?

I love it. Quartz watches don't bother me in the least. I would love a Grand Seiko and a quartz model is a lot more attainable for me anyway. I do want a Spring Drive though 😀

Spring Drive is probably going to be my next one. Thanks for the comment.

Nice one. And hairy as well lol. Thanks for the comment!

Love a 9F quartz

·

I think quartz is great and premium quartz should have a display back.

·

Good chance my next watch will be a Grand Seiko quartz.

Nice! I think quartz is growing on collectors. Well deserved for high quality ones I guess. Which whatch are you planning on getting?

·

I want one.

All the high end brands make quartz watches, don’t let anyone tell you “oh it’s just quartz “…it’s still a grand freakin seiko and to be honest seiko has earned the right to flaunt quartz. Great piece!

I agree with you. Thanks for the comment.

Not just any quartz, one of the best quartz movements ever made, hand assembled by master craftsmen

·

Grand Seiko quartz is next level!

I'm currently wearing the SBGN003 too. Incredibly good looking timepiece, better than the model that recently replaced it and this movement makes it a perfect travel watch.

As always with Grand Seiko, the only gripe is the absence of quick adjustment on the clasp, requiring to fiddle with full links and half links each time the weather changes.

·

The SBGN027 is high on my list.

Congrats on your purchase. Tbh, after having grown my collection to 5 mechanical watches and especially after having paid €750 to service my Omega, quartz is growing on me.

These are functional beauties and the finishing is second to none 👌

·

Thank you, Fred.

Man, Quartz is dope. Grab-n-go, no muss, no fuss. I have a couple in my collection. I think once you mature in the watch journey you tend to stop worrying about what the “community” thinks and start buying what you love. I love this piece and I hope you get tons of great memories in it.

Thank you for the comment, and I agree, once you are mature enough, you stop worrying about more popular watches, but you start focusing on practicity and what works for you.

OH but this Sir is the Rolls Royce of Quartz movements. Absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing!

Yes, indeed it is. Thanks you!

Handsome watch. Dont matter if quartz or auto, each has its advantages and disadvantages

You are right, it's my first "nice" quarts, enjoying it very much so far.

Looks great on your wrist. There's nothing wrong with a high grade quartz such as GS provides. At the end of the day from a timekeeping point of view they are superior to mechanical movements. Sporty looking piece.👍

Yes, it's sporty, yet elegant, not flashy, but also noticeable. Thanks for the comment!

I also have a Grand Seiko SBGN, how do you feel about the lack of micro-adjustment, were you able to get a good fit?

Hi, yes, I had to play with the links and half links to get the right fit, it's one of the most comfortable watches I own, I have a lot of watches with on the go adjustments, but at the end I do not use that feature, I don't know why. The quick adjustment is something I value a lot despite of never using it, it's kinda weird. Did you find the perfect fit on yours?

I'm considering adding one to my collection. Wear it in good health.👍

Do it, you won't regret it! Thank you!

I think your new watch is a beauty, and I think (know) that Seiko invented the quartz movement. How did that come about? I like to imagine some Seiko guys in the 1960s saying, Hmmm, what if we got a piece of, I don't know --- quartz, and then we shaped it into a tiny tuning fork, and placed that in a tiny metal can, and applied a voltage with a battery the size of a small pea so that the quartz tuning fork vibrated at a precise frequency, and then with motors and integrated circuits stepped it down to one precise tick per second?

Wow. Makes me ask myself what I've done lately that's fantastic.

Same here… 1st GS

It's no ordinary quartz watch! 😁

Sorry to reply so late in the conversation (this is actually my first comment/post on WatchCrunch 🙂), but I have the sister model, the SBGN005. The 9F GMTs, as many have mentioned, can really fill the role of a GADA. I haven't worn my autos at all since I got my 005 a month ago! It's almost taken care of my quest for a 5 digit Polar Explorer II (we'll see) but I definitely see this as being my daily watch for a very long time!

I was leaning towards one of the new models - SBGN027/029, but the AD had this one as NOS and I couldn't say no! I can't recommend the 9F enough! I'm at 0.0 seconds per day off for the last month. We now just need nicknames for the 003/005 🙂Anyway, sorry for the long post-Thanks for reading!
