Explorer 2 Alternative??! Seiko GMT

Got my hands on the new Seiko 5 GMT which obviously present tribute to the Explorer 2.

Although many may agree it has the Explorer 2 features, it felt 95% like a Seiko5, based on the weight on the wrist, the dial numbers and no cyclops.

Where I would say Black Bay Pro can be considered a EP2 alternative for people wishing for something smaller on the wrist, and affordable.

What do you all think? Would Seiko with

Steel engraved bezels including Grand Seikos be an EP2 substitute or are they something unique on its own? Let me know in the comments below!👇

IMO it's very original. Yes it has a SS bezel but that's about the only thing it shares. And I doubt the Explorer was the first with a SS bezel.

The White one looks really nice!! I haven’t seen it yet in person! Thank you for sharing!

I have the black case alternative (Deception) and they are both very cool watches 👌

Love it. I’m thinking about grabbing a white dial variant as I think they look awesome.

I see it as a watch of it’s own. I get no E2 wibe. I have it and like it. Sure it is an alternative to the Explorer, it’s a GMT after all, but not a homage.

Great watch - and IMO very much it's own unique watch. I think just because it has a steel GMT bezel is not really fair to call it inspired by the Explorer II - it's just a design cue it utilizes to create an overall legible and utilitarian aesthetic.
