Which would you choose?

Option 1: You get a free watch every month for a year. The watch is chosen for you. You’re told the value of the watch you receive will always be double that of the previous month. You’re prohibited from ever selling any watches. Option 2: You get a voucher worth $10,000 for watches only. New or used, AD or AliExpress. Buy 1 watch or 100 it doesn’t matter. You’ll be prohibited from ever buying a watch again.

What is the point of an expensive watch that can't be sold?

What is the point of an expensive watch that can't be sold?

To have and to hold. To love and to cherish. In sickness and health, until death…..

A. Leave a fat collection for the nephews since I don’t want kids.

I can do that with a cheap watch. I saw Rain Man and Steve Martin in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. I know that expensive watches are there to liquidate in time of emergency.

Now @colorvortex has found the loophole. I can't sell the watches, but what if somebody else sells them? Or insurance fraud, gambling, whatever.

·

A) I’m not reselling watches anyways and I can always trade a watch 🤣 the only downside is that I can’t choose the watch and probably end up with tons of divers I don’t like 🥲

In Option 2 you can sell them, you just can’t buy anymore once the 10k is gone.

I would personally love option 1, but the caveat would be what the first watch is.

Option A, change my name after a year by deed poll, change address, plastic surgery perhaps (I could use it) and sell the lot, no one will know.

·

Neither!!

Both options suck!!

There’s a $0.01 watch on AliX that some YouTuber showed the other day. Starting from there, your December watch will be $20.48. No, Thanks.

$10k is not enough to make me quit playing watches. No, Thanks.

I choose not to play this game.

That would be soul crushing.

You are familiar with the peeny doubling for a month gag? If the first watch is worth a penny, at the end of year one you are at $20.48*, but at month 18 we're into four figures, five figures at month 21, and then at month 36 we're looking for $343M watches.**

* @Davemcc did the same maths, or at least started to. I should probably read to the end before posting.

** And you can't sell the thing! I've got a leaky roof and a broken down car and a toothache that I can't fix, but I'm stuck with million dollar watches. Screw that! Who signs up for that Faustian bargain?

It’s just for fun pal, relax.

If the first watch was $199, the last would be $407,552

It’s a gamble sure, but if you’re not keen on selling then it’s a worthwhile gamble.

·

OH, this is only for a year. I have poor reading comprehension.

·

Even if you start the first month with a $10 watch, the last one is going to be worth $20K+

But… you don’t get to pick it. So what’s more important, the value or choosing?

When I eat dirt, my kids will have some great watches. Always go with the money.
