I want to let everyone know that a group of us will be in Geneva for the public days of Watches and Wonders. If you're interested in meeting up, either in the afternoon or evening at a hotel or restaurant, please comment below so we can coordinate a suitable location. I'll be arriving in Switzerland on the morning of the 12th and departing on the afternoon of the 16th.

Meet your host

Paul

Hi Paul,

I live under an hour from Geneva (in Annecy). I'd be interested in the meet up.

I visited the last one and found it a bit OTT. But Time to Watches was running simultaneously and was a much more casual and relaxed affair with smaller makers ready to chat.

Kind regards

Cormac

I’ll come if I can borrow Diddy’s jet. I don’t think he’s using it right now. I just can’t fly over there commercial again. It’s impossible to sleep with some little twerp kicking the back of my seat for ten hours.

The flight from JFK is eight hours, and nine hours for the return. Given my medical conditions, economy class isn't feasible for me. Fortunately, Condor offers a business class option with lie-flat seats for $2,700 round trip—a significantly better deal compared to Delta's prices. I want to clarify that I'm aware $2,700 is costly, but due to my infrequent travel and chronic pain, I prioritize the comfort of a lie-flat seat whenever possible.

@TheHoroSexual doesn’t do basic meet ups! (Pure class)

But JFK is a several hour flight from here! 😩

Hey, I get that! I’d do the same. I’m not as young as I use to be, so comfort is important.

In all honestly, I’d love to go to W&W. Probably won’t happen anytime soon, though. I’ve got too much going on. Life’s busy with three kids still at home! Maybe in a few years. Rain check? 😆

I understand completely! Living about 2 hours away by plane from NYC, catching a direct flight from JFK to Geneva isn't as straightforward for me as it is for someone local. While I don't have kids at home, I do have three dogs whom I'll miss terribly. Fortunately, I don't need to board them since I have family members willing to look after them while I'm away. Maybe when your kids are a bit older, a weekend trip to Switzerland could be on the cards for you. I'm thrilled about the chance to lay eyes on these novelties before anyone else outside of the industry.

I appreciate the kind words. I didn’t think The Montage meetup was going to get topped so quickly, but it looks like it’ll happen in Geneve in a couple weeks!

Dream trip Paul

I’m crazy jealous. I’m on family vacay in SoCal at the moment .. and have trips to Europe (bike racing) and Japan (family visit) both coming up in the summer. So pretty busy itinerary already… but

Maybe I’ll suss out ticket prices just for fun 🤫😃

We could potentially plan something for the weekend. I initially suggested Friday, considering it tends to be a quieter day before the busier, public-facing days of the W&W event.

·

I totaly understand. Let me know if something is organise in the week-end. And if it's not the case, I wish you all a great meetup.

Hello there! I will be at W&W sunday 14. I should arrive in geneva with my wife on saturday 13. Then we go back to lake lucerne ;)

Enjoy the trip - would love to go - it’s about a 22hour flight from here 🇦🇺✈️✈️🇨🇭 What watch are you planning on wearing? the new GMT? Or will you be taking a couple😁

·

If @TheHoroSexual brings all his watches, I would gladly skip w&w to look at the collection. Customs will be very happy 🍾🤣 I will bring for sure my Tag Heuer Monza, maybe also the Weems or just my PRX to be more low profile 😛

I'm planning to bring just one high-end watch and a beater for this trip. Carrying my entire collection internationally isn't wise, especially with Swiss customs ready to hit me with tax charges.

We can possibly do a meetup on the evening of the 13th or morning of the 14th. Let’s play it by ear for now

I've decided to wear a GMT-Master II, which is the ideal travel watch. Right now, the meteorite version feels like the perfect choice for this trip.

I have many war stories with the swiss customs... Import/exported (by car):

  • A steinway D piano

  • 5 industrial pasta-machines

  • 600l olive oil

  • A few tonns of lemons

  • A few hundert kg of raw ham

  • A cat

The most troublesome was the cat...

My vote goes to e meetup on the evening of the 13th. So that we can dash to the Rolex stand as soon as W&W opens on sunday morning. Last year it was perfect, almost nobody there. 60 minutes later it was chaos.

We are staying at the ibis budget (its really close to w&w). Restaurant there was not bad, meat and wine was ok. We can also meet somewhere in town. I have only been to a few concerts in geneva, I dont know much of the city 🙈

If you are at the Marriot, they should have a nice bar/lobby. Also the rooftop looks nice.

But as I am swiss, I dont know about the others. maybe something more easy-going? We are an expensive country 🥲

We're a group of 12 coming along (all members of The Watch Collectors' Club). We've booked dinner in this Swiss restaurant in the city centre on Saturday 13th: https://www.aubergedesaviese.com/notre-carte/

If others want to book that it'd be great to make it a watch gang evening! We'll likely go to a bar afterwards if we aren't too full of fondue.

I think we’d love to join you guys for a dinner! How can we extend that reservation to make it for 20?

If you're serious just email them. We have booked for 7:30PM. Hope you can make it there!

·

Sorry I’m going to miss this Paul as I am headed back tomorrow. It would have been fun to see y’all here in Geneva.

·

I'll be driving to Geneva tomorrow morning, but won't be staying overnight. Hope to catch some of you guys during the day!
