Megir quartz watch

This is a cheap as chips quartz watch from China. You can buy them on AliExpress for less than €15 and for around €30 on Amazon. It needs two hefty batteries. The build quality is excellent with the case and band both being 316L steel. The crystal is mineral and it has a blue anti reflective coating. Even the design, to the best of my knowledge, is original*.

* I have just found a brand based in HK called Time Engine that are selling almost identical looking watches for $74,99 without shipping. This is most probably a drop shipping site with vastly increased prices. Apparently the movement used (Q2382) is branded the "Drum Roller".

Why would there be a 6,7,8, or 9 on that first dial of the minutes, since the largest minute possible is 59? I am confused. 🤯

New batteries are in. It tells the correct time when it feels like it.

I just received one of these the other day. I paid $18. It keeps good time at about +2s/d. The crystal has some weight to it and has a magnifying effect on the rollers Annoyingly though they put blue anti-reflective coating on it, but someone must have dropped the “anti-“ part as it reflect blue light into your eye when you look at it. That blue semi-mirror coating is my biggest issue. The reviews showed some mods removing the plain dial exposing the electronics beneath which looked more attractive, which I’m considering trying. Fwiw, mine arrived running with batteries installed. At the moment it just sits on my desk, like an mini old roller clock I had back in the 70’s. I’m not sure exactly when I would be tempted to wear it. The blue mirror coating is problematic in daylight, and it doesn’t have a light or lume, making it not so great of a choice in the evening. It’s kind of a novelty item.

I put new batteries in the one I had but it didn't work properly l. I ended up throwing it in a sack with other broken watches and selling it for €25 or something. Your right about the weight of the crystal, and once the batteries die it will make a great paperweight 🤣
